Not a powerhouse, but occasionally a contender. It goes up and down, but seems to have a more solid foundation than when I was there in the 1990's.

An enigma for lack of a better word. Only five trips to the playoffs since 1990 but two resulted in trips to the NC game. Two trips to the NC in the last 10 years puts them in a pretty elite crowd.

Also plays in a great conference. UMass, UDel, JMU & Richmond have National Titles. Am I forgetting anyone?

It's pretty decent football. UMASS always puts a competetive team on the field and McGuirk is not a bad place to watch a game. So get out there this fall and support your team.

You should just root for UNH, instead.

I'm looking forward to going to McGuirk this year. I predict it will be 10 minutes before having to deal with someone yelling at me for something.

As a fan of a hated rival of UMass I look at them with a mixture of fear and loathing. They definitely always put a competitive team on the field.

My visits to Amherst have always been great. The fans (There are not many students) have been sociable and polite. There is not much tailgating. If you get there an hour before the game you will have the parking lot pretty much to yourself. Most of the seats have a good view. There are no end zone seats.

For the most part (with the exception of maybe one poster), UD and Umass have had a very respectful rivalry. The games typically are tough and hard fought.

Umass has an excellent band and there are many ties between the Umass band and UD. Like the others, I encourage you to go out and support your team. They deserve more support from the community they represent.
