What is Idaho State doing playing Oklahoma? They'll lose big time. No offense.

The Big Sky will go 0/11 in FBS and 9/11 FCS, IMO.

Correct. Idaho State will have no offense against the Oklahoma D.

Should be no worse than Oklahoma's 57-2 SQUEEKER over Chattanooga last year.

The Mocs managed 36 yards for the game.

It's a $$ and exposure game for the Bengals. I just hope they do not sustain any serious injuries.

Hey, CrazyCat, which FCS games do you think we will lose?

I can certainly see NAU giving Arizona a difficult game. Arizona has a new QB and is breaking in some new players. NAU has a new QB and is also breaking in some new players. I'd say Arizona 35, NAU 17 would be a good score.

The two I am thinking are Cal Poly/ Sac. St. and UC Davis/PSU. I'm hoping the Big Sky can win all the FCS games but I just don't think it's gonna happen.

I agree that Sac State would be shaky against last year's Cal Poly team, but the 2009 version is a mystery.

It will be interesting to see what Cal Poly comes up with this year after losing their head coach, starting QB, top 3 receivers and top 3 rushers from 2008.

The odds may slightly favor UC Davis against Portland State, but Glanville's aerial circus has a good chance to beat nearly anyone.

EWU and Portland State would seem to fare the same when compared with each other.

Apparently Cal Poly lost seven starters on the offense and three on the defense:

My Guess

Why the sudden love for Southern Utah? They didn't do so well last year. Are they considered an up and comer this season?

My Guess

You are predicting only three of 11 victories for the BSC against non-conference FCS opponents, Appman?!?? Why so optimistic about Southa Dakota, Southern Utah and Cal Poly's chances vs the Big Sky? xeyebrowx

Besides their head coach, the Mustangs lose three on defense and seven on offense, including the QB, the top three receivers and the top three rushers! xcoffeex

Big Sky teams will be favored in the following eight out-of-conference games versus Division I opponents in 2009:

Eastern Washington at Southern Utah by a TD and a FG

Montana at UC Davis by two TDs
Montana vs Cal Poly by a TD and a FG

Northern Arizona vs Southern Utah by a TD and a FG

Northern Colorado vs San Diego by a FG

Sacramento State vs UC Davis by a FG

Weber State at Wyoming by a TD
Weber State vs Cal Poly by a FG

Lumberjacks76

That's more like it. Southern Utah, at best, will finish 6-5:

My preliminary thought is that it will be 9 wins (1-10 vs. FBS; 8-3 vs. FCS).

FCS Wins - EWU @ Southern Utah; UMT @ UC Davis; UMT vs. Cal Poly; MSU vs. South Dakota; NAU vs. Southern Utah; UNC vs. San Diego; UNC vs. South Dakota; WEB vs. Cal Poly

FCS Losses - PSU vs. UC Davis; SAC @ Cal Poly; SAC vs. UC Davis

FBS Wins - WEB @ Wyoming

Most likely FCS win pick - MSU over South Dakota
Least likely FCS win pick - UNC over San Diego
Most likely FCS loss pick - SAC to Cal Poly
Least likely FCS loss pick - PSU to UC Davis
Most/least likely FBS win pick - WEB over Wyoming
Most likely FBS loss pick - ISU to Oklahoma
Least likely FBS loss pick - WEB to Colorado St.

Several of the games could go either way. I wouldn't be surprised if Weber State ended up winning one of their FBS games, either.

I got 7-9 wins against FCS opposition this year. Just don't see Cal Poly and UC-Davis getting swept by the Big Sky. And Southern Utah may bite a game off too.

I like your format, PX!

There are three games where the Big Sky will probably be slightly favored (less than a TD), and I give the nod in all three cases to the BSC due to home field advantage:

UC Davis at Sac State
Cal Poly at Weber
San Diego at Northern Colorado
(Don't forget the altitude advantage for Northern Colorado. USD practices at sea level and does not get a chance to play at altitude!)

There are also three games where the Big Sky opponent will probably be slightly favored (less than a TD):

Portland State at UC Davis
Weber at Colorado State
South Dakota at Montana State

Maybe Montana State will be the breakout game for the Big Sky. MSU beat South Dakota last year at home. Apparently the Bobcats have another home game this year, which should help.

By entering the time tunnel, we can determine future SD scores vs. the Bobcats:

2010: Montana State 29, SD 21
2011: Montana State 35, SD 29

Weber and UM will definitely start out as the pre-season favorites to win the league. However, I have a strong feeling that another team will crash through the Big Sky unexpectedly and win it, similar to what Weber did last year. I'm hoping it's my Bobcats but that will all depend on our QB play. It could also be EWU, NAU, or possibly even Sac.

South Dakota may be quite a game vs MSU. Last year the game was close for most of two quarters until SD got called for an offensive pass interference and MSU capitalized and got a roll.

I believe South Dakota returns their stud qb and most of their 6'3" receivers and tight ends that they had all over the field. They also gave Northern Iowa a handful. The team could put up points. They are well coached and with a full scholarship level should be competitive.

Southern Utah was making strides toward the end of last year.

I think that EWU will give California a good game. They did well against Texas Tech last year.

It sucks that you don't have more I-AA's out there. Only meaningful I-AA OOC games are against the same two teams. So if CP or UCD have bad years, there will be even fewer.

Montana:
UC Davis 9/12 (FCS)
Cal Poly 10/10 (FCS)

Portland State:
UC Davis 9/24 (FCS)

Sacramento State:
Cal Poly 9/12 (FCS)
UC Davis 11/8 (FCS)

Weber State:
Cal Poly 11/21 (FCS)

It's easy to forget how few teams you have out there. :(

USD returns 10 starters on offense. They will be very good on that side of the ball.
