Salukis start Year 2 of Lennon era today
CARBONDALE - The search for Larry Warner’s successor begins today, as the Southern Illinois University football team begins the first of 15 spring practices at 3:15 p.m.
Warner, a Payton Award candidate at running back who rushed for 1,265 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2008, was one of four offensive starters who spent the last of their eligibility last fall. SIU could return eight offensive starters and 20 overall from last year’s 9-3 squad that reached the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.
