i'm not watching the game, i assumed they were inside the 20 b/c he didn't indicate the yardage, GSu doesn't throw much in the middle of the field

Also, GSU's O-Line is having their way with TXST's D-Line. That I did expect.

That missed field goal KILLED us...our kicker has been pretty bad lately...but he did make a good punt right before half...

GSU committs lots of penalties also.

This reminds me of the first half of the NC game against Montana. Huge passing plays helped us roll up a big lead. Hopefully Our offense won't be held to 7 or less points like we were against them

windwalker

I think it will be one HECK of a second half...

This is good coverage for I-AA....

Maybe in 2 to 3 years... all of the playoff games will be televised.
I feel there are more and more football fans that appreciate a REAL National Championship that is decided ON THE FIELD!!!

Meltdown has been the signature of Mike Sewaks coaching career at GSU. He'll probably still be around next year, and that just makes me sick. Hell, Tim Stowers wasn't any worse than this.

However, I'm glad ESPN2 picked this one for TV. It was a great game featuring a great player who's probably going to be in the NFL.

I just wish they'd have picked something other than Colgate at New Hampshire for the other one. Anybody with sense should've known that one was likely to be a mismatch.

Do big sky officials EVER make holding calls? The refs missed a clear holding call on that key 4th down play. But it doesn't matter, our defense stunk the entire game, and the O did in the 4th. We are lucky we didn't lose by more.

While it was a great game, I still think the SH/EWU game last year topped this one. Last play of the game.

Tx St played an excellent game, though, and Nealy is a freaking stud (when he's on).

So the Southland goes 1-1. Good luck to the Bobcats against Cal Poly.

Nealy ends up with over 520 total yards, can you say Payton ? :)

I also believe he passed for enough yards to become the TXST all time passing leader as well as total yardage leader.

GSU and Montana out, who would have thought it ?

Most likely there will be a first time champion this year.

apparently you didn't see the UNH/Colgate game... ;)

Yes, I saw it. But Nealy notched over 100 yards more in total offense today against a far tougher opponent. You take Nealy out of the Texas State/GSU game and Texas State has no shot. Take Santos out of that New Hampshire game and as long as they've got even an adequate QB they still win easily.

JohnStOnge
November 26th, 2005, 06:23 PM
GSU6trophies, Big Sky officials ARE very loose on the holding calls. I've noticed that over the years. They do let offensive linemen get away with a lot.

They're consistent though. They do it both ways. Of course that doesn't help GSU much given their offensive style.

GSU got down by 3 with 4 minutes left and decided to self destruct. not punting on 4&1 from like our 20 and then coming up short. tx scores. on the return we try another trick play and throw an INT... it was alot of ugliness. makes my stomache turn thinking about the fact we just lost that game.

Remember the thread about the biggest chokes of all time? Well, I think we have a new #1! I'm so glad our entire secondary has finished its eligibility. That was the lousiest pass defense I've seen. TXST has a great QB but his receiveres were wide open. And what the hell was Sewak thinking... pass on 4th and two? Jermaine was killing them up the middle.

Oh, well TXST deserved the win and we got what we deserved.

Hey Robert, congrats on the great win. I thought you were leaving early this morning to go to the game (according to cats79)? If so, how are you able to post so quickly????

Thanks man, it has been a long time coming since the second DII title game. xprost2x

When I walked off the field after that game, I did not dream it would take this long for another playoff victory.

I had a personal matter come up and I had to cancel out on our road trip.

What do you thing the attendance was ? :) I really think there was over 10,000 and TXST may have one of the largest attendance of the first round. I could see another sellout next week, like we had with SHS.

I hope we continue to represent the SLC well.

No doubt Texas St. balled in the 4th. I though GSU was about ready to run away with the game going into the 4th.

Great game to watch, and an excellent showing of what great football I-AA has.

There were over 16,000 at Montana today.

Witnessed the Nealy Show!!! It was an amazing sight!

GSU did impress me. Freakin' fast, they are.......

400 in the air and 126 on the ground, I'd say that's a pretty good day......

We said the same thing...I think you guys will drop, not too far, but will not be a top two team. You guys hit NW St and Sam on the road as well as McNeese. Those are the top three teams next year with you fellas...

I too want to add my congratulations to Tx State. I thought you were done for going into the fourth but you fought hard and won.

Good luck in the next round.

Your forgetting one important thing and that is we will have our head coach and staff back next year which means they know exactly what Geaorge will be capable of. George will know what is expected of him as well. We also have quite a bit of tallent returning in the skill possitions as well. Bailiff rotates the underclass men with our veterans so there will be plenty of experience coming back as well.

Guess what!! Bailiff and staff will not play one down next year. You are losing a lot this year and it will take time to rebuild so set your goals accordingly. George will not replace Nealy (in one year for sure).

As a followup to my last post which may have seemed like a slam (and was not intended as such). Enjoy this year and ride it for all its worth. You never know when the next ride will come along.

Go Bobcats!!!! :hyped:

The situation that Sam placed their false optimism on this year and the situation that TXST will take into next year are like night and day, IMHO.

What makes you think Sam will be in the top tier of the SLC next year ?

Didn't you forget about Nicholls State, folks tried to ignore them this year and they were SLC co-champs.

TXST will lose 11 starters, 7 off the #11 offense and 4 off the #15 defense. A defense that has faced 3 top 20 offenses in I-AA and a top 15 IA offense this year. The defense will return our leading tackler and the offense will return the leading RB, who doesn't start, and 4 out of 6 of our leading receivers.

We have 17 Seniors on the 2 deep roster, but did introduce 25 on Senior Day.

We have some consistency in the coaching staff with Baliff and the future is so bright I have to wear shades. :hurray:

We have all summer to discuss next year's teams, quit trying to rain on my ride, this year is special and I want to enjoy it without having to justify whether or not we will remain in the 1st tier in the SLC next year. :D

Plus, Bradley George isn't some 18-19yr old freshman. He's a mature player who did time in baseball in the minor leagues and knows how to handle himself. If you watch him during pregames, he doesn't look like someone who gets rattled. Now, he hasn't played a snap yet for TxSt, but I do believe our QB coach will have him more than ready for next season.

And thanks to the well-wishers. This season has been fun to watch. I hope our success continues!

We are losing half of our starters, about normal for a quality playoff team.

Of course losing a starting QB like Nealy will require quite a bit of adjustment, even though some folks still believe Nealy is overrated and was not even one of the top 2 QBs in the SLC. xidiotx

As a college QB Nealy is not overrated. As a potential NFL QB who knows?

Nealy has all the physical tools but so do many QB's including the guy who started ahead of Tom Brady at Michigan (quick name that QB!!)

I would be more interested in who else TX. State loses on offense and defense. Football is a 22 man sport and we all know that defense is the key to championships.

I also saw a freshman Northeastern QB take apart the same GSU defense in September . I know things change but the road for Nealy gets tougher every week from now on and all of the TX State team.

Let's see TT was comparing our to programs. As I recall Sam lost their head coach after last season which as the Sam fans know hurt their team bad this year. We on the other hand will have our Head coach and most likely his entire staff returning. But this topic has defered from the original topic and I admit I let TT take us there but I think it is time we focus on right now and enjoy the season as it is going well for the SLC and the Bobcats. :beerchug:

Fortunately we lose 11 seniors and not all of them were starters. The biggest question mark is having to replace the entire secondary (which might not be a bad thing).
