Weber State signed a great class for 2009, including fourteen sorely needed defensive players and none from the offensive side of the ball.

Four of the twenty five signees are community college transfers. Two are enrolled for the spring semester and will presumably participate in spring ball.

The 2009 recruiting class includes kids from the usual Wildcat hunting grounds of Utah, California, Hawaii and Idaho, but this year there are also four players from Oklahoma, to add to the three Okies already rostered. The Dean of the Oklahoma contingent next year will be senior All-Big-Sky lockdown cornerback Josh Morris, from Ada, Oklahoma. He will be joined by redshirt sophomore RB Justin White, and Sophomore DT Pierre Alexander.

So Weber could roster as many as seven from Oklahoma for 2009! xthumbsupx

Linebacker Steve Halvorsen had a great freshman season at American River College and brings 4 years of eligibility (i.e., 4 years to play 3) with a 3.03 GPA to Weber State.

Steve has already enrolled for the 2009 spring semester. You can see his ARC film online at:

Incoming Junior defensive back Jordan Brown ranked second in individual defense in the National Junior College Athletic Assn while playing for national JC runners-up Snow College in 2008.

Jordan played lights-out pass defense in the championship game, and finished the season with 125 tackles, including 63 solo tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, a sack and a forced fumble. He led the Badgers in interceptions with four, two of which he ran back for touchdowns, and he averaged 27.8 yards per kickoff return, including yet another touchdown.

That may be the best news of all for Weber. Some hope of finally complying with APR standards.
