I read this yesterday evening after a google search for Armanti. The author leaves out Armanti's QB rating (maybe an oversight), but according to ESPN (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=190009) it is 173.65, higher than every other QB listed in the column.

The MVP goes to .... Armanti Edwards. Not for his stats over the two previous years, but based on his total Stats. He is the whole package, greater runner, highest QB rating, most combined td's, etc.

He also gets better each year as the season goes on. the best is yet to come.

From the article:

While guiding the Mountaineers to a 7-2 record (one of the losses was to Louisiana State), Edwards has thrown for 1,823 yards and 20 touchdowns with only two interceptions. His quarterback rating: 176.5. On the ground, he's run for 634 yards and nine touchdowns.

I think this is Edwards' to lose. Especially after Friday night.

I don't know how I missed that, I even read it again right before I postedxoopsx :o .

I wonder why there is the (slight) discrepancy between the numbers in this column and Armanti's ESPN site.

I've always assumed you needed a degree in quantum physics to calculate QB rating, so I can't even begin to explain it...

Rank Player Rating
1 Jonathan Dally, Cal Poly 203.5
2 Cole Bergquist, Montana 180.2
3 Armanti Edwards, Appalachian St. 173.6

Not to mention that the NFL and NCAA ratings are calculated differently, which totally muddies up the waters.

AE's was 335+ on Friday night...:)

I know there was some confusion about this last year, but can a team have two people on the list?

I think Cole deserves consideration, but won't win the award.

Yes they can, but it gets murky as to how that occurs and why it happens sometimes and not other times. Notice Joe Flacco's ommission from the list entirely last year.

As for this year, Edwards is a slam dunk choice for the award. Probably the best throwing/running QB combination I've seen since *gasp* Rich Gannon!!! xlolx xlolx xlolx

That's what I was thinking about...

Also, are you saying that Rich Gannon was better than Armanti Edwards...?? :D

I know there was some confusion about this last year, but can a team have two people on the list?Santos and Ball were on the list simultaneously. Barden and Dally should be too. TSN picks the list and they take into account what the school's are pushing. I know that a WR is always a longshot. Santos won the award. I always think a QB is more important than a WR. But having a great WR can make a QB look better. If they are both good, well look at how UNH made the playoffs year after year.

I thought the first update had already happened. Are they still not on the list?

Well I can only assume there has been an update if Higgins is on there. And the fact that Nichols is still on the list is a joke

Sorry, my post was vague.

There has been an update (I didn't look up the article) and they are not on the list...

Yes, Gannon was better. Better arm, just as quick, and he was bigger. If he was in a spread offense back then rather than a Wing-T, I'm not sure he'd ever have lost.
