This is the first poll that I've seen that the SDSU Jacks fell (three places) due to their tight win down at SFA.

What I thought wrong about the Jacks position is that WIU (already lost to SDSU) is rated above the Jacks, by sitting idle. xnonono2x xnonono2x

Well they had a close game with WIU and then really had to fight to beat a pretty down SFA. Plus the two teams were only a couple spots apart to begin with. So I can see where that would happen, but I do not necessarily agree with that. I still think SDSU might be the 3rd best team in the MVFC.

I did some quick math on JMU's point total ( I have nothing better to do...)
and here is what I found...

there were 108 people who cast their votes... using the 25 points for first, 24 for second, etc... that means if a team had all 108 people vote them first they would have 2700 points...

JMU had 87 first place votes... for a total of 2175 points... if the other 21 voters all voted JMU second that would add up to an additional 504 votes... that means the most points they could have had is 2175 + 504 is 2679... this poll is reporting that JMU recieved 2684 points... does anyone know how that could happen or was it a mistake or did i do something wrong...?

Elon is not the 7th best team. Period.

As much as I would love to rub in the fact that we're #7 in the week 5 TSN poll, I still think its too high right now. In my opinion, we should be somewhere between 9-12. Its laughable how much variance lays between where we are in the AGS poll (14), FCS poll (15), and the TSN poll (7). Not to mention the token first place votes that are spread around on a weekly basis. xnonox

I try not to put too much stock in these rankings early in the season. The important rankings will come in weeks 6-12 as everyone will start conference play and the win and loss will represent what a team is really capable of.

One thing that you can't dispute right now is who sits atop the SoCon standings. xsmiley_wix xsmiley_wix

I'm hoping that we'll get a taste of that this year! With all the great teams in the SoCon, we could be putting those mathematicians to work on a tie breaker come week 12!

I know the Sports Network compiles their ballots manually so the possibility of point error is greater than AGS. Maybe the number of #1 votes is wrong?

I don't get the TSN voters, they gave Montana State 4 votes who are 2-2 with both wins against non-Div. I schools and Sacramento State who is 3-2 with a win against PSU and two non-Div. I schools and who barely lost to Weber State and Colorado State doesn't get any? And MSU got blown out by Kansas State and played ok at Minnesota (but not where UMinn never had the game in doubt)? xeyebrowx

I agree. Whoever votes for SHU must stop the madness or this poll loses all credibility!
