View Full Version : Worst Team in FCS?

As an ISU alum, I have seen a few bad Syc teams in my day. We seldom win, but play in a very tough league. I know we are bad, but I seriously doubt we are the worst. Who does everybody think is the worst team in FCS?

Have to agree that it is Campbell this year. First year program, the entire team is made up of sophomores and freshman.... It will be a while before everything comes together for Campbell....

Yes, they have potential but the 1st year team is struggling as expected.

Savannah State seems like a punching bag year in and year out....

maybe a better question is which is the worst team from an AQ conference???

I'm pretty sure D2.

I think this thread would be interesting if we listed contenders and only included teams that were >40 schollys for a few years and not transistional or startup.

You are correct. They are D2 and in the CIAA.

LaSalle left a void.
Didn't Valpo get beat by D.III team last weekend.

Chowan is D.II.

I think you may see a worse team this weekend.

I predicted a 24 point win for the Griz over Southern Utah Women's Academy. In fact, I questioned why we keep scheduling the worst FCS team in the nation.

There is really no need to even continue this topic. The great wolfie has already declared the only true and correct answer. xcoffeex

And they just moved up from NAIA. I believe this is their fourth year in D2.

TxState became the worst program in the history of football the day in 2005 when their coach decided run the clock out in regulation against UNI in the Semi's. Thanks TxState!

The question should be...... Who is the worst team in the FCS that has been playing in the FCS for at least 5 years? Can't really count transition teams or new programs.. They need a few years to build up..

Prarie View is actually winning some real games, good to see them off this list for awhile!

I used to do the I-AA bottom 10, which included the AQ conferences along with the SWAC and Ivy League, before work changed (I mean, before I ran out of jokes). I might have to bring that back.

Can't really count Campbell for two reasons. First, this is their cherry-poppin' season. Second, non-schollie Pioneer Leaguers shouldn't really count in regard to this discussion...just doesn't seem right.

Seen several votes for Savannah State on this thread. However, it must be noted that Sav State beat Winston-Salem State 16-13 two weeks ago.

I guess that means that Winston-Salem State is now officially the worst team in FCS.

Per dollar I am willing to bet we pay the most per win. Last year we probably paid $750,000 per win.

I hate to pick on a team from my league (SWAC) but right now Mississippi Valley has to be the worst team. Last three games lost by a total of 153-29.

I'll nominate Howard. They're 0-3 and one of those 3 losses came against Georgetown. The Bison play Savannah State this week.

usin the M Ratings (the average of all of them)

#10 Marist
#9 Howard
#8 Mississippi Valley St.
#7 Winston-Salem St.
#6 Valparaiso
#5 Iona
#4 Savannah St.
#3 NC Central
#2 St. Francis (PA)
#1 Campbell

1 the worst

i use this because it puts Bryant 11th from the worst team :D
But I guess the only full schollie are #'s 7-9 so they must be the worst teams in FCS? WSS is reclassifying so MVSU is worst and Howard 2nd worst?
