More first place votes but not more points, I am guessing most people had UNH in their top 5, but it wouldn't surprise me if some voters had Hampton in the 5-15 region

Paulson Stadium is no place to be coming with a #1 ranking. Things are likely to get pretty spicy in the Boro this Saturday...so don't be surprised if things change at the top of the poll again next week.

SELA got votes?!? They're 3-4!

This poll is rediculous!! RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!! I swear there must be some sort of 'Survivor' type allegainces and UCD is in the wrong tribe. We're drinking our milk and eating green M&M's. When we grow up you'll all be sorry.

Every school has fans who love their teams to death. But midseason polls are just conversation pieces and I'd be happy just seeing the ags in the top 20 when all is said and done. Now if the ags beat EWU, which is possible but not likely with all our injuries, and don't crack the top 10 then I'll start complaining.

I agree with the Poll. I am a MEAC fan. However, the MEAC is a weak conference both from player ability and coaching. Therefore, the team competition is weak. I seriously doubt Hampton would be undefeated in the
A-10, Great West or SoCon. However, Hampton will have an opportunity in the playoff to prove how good they are.

Does anyone really think EWU's 5-3 is 10 spots better than UCD's 5-3?? And did these voters miss the game on saturday?? How is CP ranked ahead of UCD with the same record?? 113 TOTAL yards??

I know Garnett is out - you don't rank teams based on how good they might be if everyone was healthy. You rank them on how good they are now. UCD, through plenty of big injuries, has won 5 of 6 including wins over Stanford, #16 NDSU and #10 CP, all DOMINANT defensive performances.

I love complaining

Its all pretty even UCD lost UNH but one of Cal Polys losses was to an equally good team Montana, plus they lost to a IA team, granted a weak one. this will sound very stupid but perhaps what hurts your team in the polls most this week was that they lost to you, giving them the same amount of losses but the level of the teams that beat them is a tad better. also it didnt help that your team was ranked so far down last week.

CP and EWU both lost to crappy I-A teams and UCD BEAT a solid Stanford team, which needed a monumental collapse saturday to lose to the #8 team in the country in OT. I swear we probably would have been better off losing close to Stanford or just beating UNH. People just write off the Stanford game as a fluke. We've played as tough a schedule as anyone in the country (preseason #2 toughest according to TSN). Not to mention the 3 losses (2 to top-25 teams and one bubble team) by a combined 8 points.

I missed that Stanford game when i was looking at schedules. I agree UC Davis should prolly be higher then Cal Poly, you just had to far to clib in 1 week. But if Stanford beats USC this week, your team may get more votes in the poll. I think Cal Poly will lose again this weekend so you can pass them for sure next week.

I got a question... which conference has the highest proportion of teams ranked ;)
Both the Gateway and the Great West have half their teams ranked. In the Gateway, SIU, WKU, UNI and Youngstown are all ranked in an 8 team league. Their proportion was higher last week, but Illinois State dropped out this week with a loss. In the Great West Cal Poly, UC Davis, and North Dakota State are all ranked in a 6 team league. The figures for this week look something like this:

Gateway 4 of 8=50%
Great West 3 of 6=50%
Big Sky 3 of 8=38%
Southern 3 of 8=38%
A-10 4 of 12=33%
MEAC 2 of 9=22%
Big South 1 of 5=20%
Patriot 1 of 7=14%
Southland 1 of 7=14%
Ivy 1 of 8=13%
OVC 1 of 9=11%
SWAC1 of 10=10%

(All percentages were rounded off to conserve typing effort).

Imagine this scenario:

Team (First-place votes) Record Points Previous Rank
1. Furman Paladins (61) 7-1 2,742 2 Loses to Ga. Southern, and Wofford or Chattanooga
2. New Hampshire Wildcats (25) 7-1 2,628 4 wins out
3. Hampton Pirates (23) 8-0 2,576 3 wins out
4. Montana Grizzlies (2) 6-2 2,491 5 wins out
5. Southern Illinois Salukis (1) 6-2 2,337 8 Loses to YSU and NIU
6. Western Kentucky Hilltoppers 6-2 2,131 1 Loses to NIU, and Fla Int.
7. Appalachian State Mountaineers 6-2 2,088 12 Loses to LSU, and Western Carolina
8. Massachusetts Minutemen 6-2 1,808 7 Loses to Army, and Delaware
9. Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 7-1 1,765 13 Wins Out
10. Texas State Bobcats 6-2 1,578 6 Loses to McNeese
11. Eastern Washington Eagles 5-3 1,566 14 Wins Out
12. Montana State Bobcats 5-3 1,446 15 Loses to Montana, EWU
13. Lehigh Mountain Hawks 6-2 1,335 16 Wins Out

now if team that win out move up past any team that loses, that would leave the polls like this:
1) New Hampshire
2) Hampton
3) Montana
4) Coastal Carolina
5) Eastern Washington
6) Lehigh

Would you give both Hampton and Coastal Carolina a seed? Would you bump one for Eastern Washington, giving the BSC 2 seeds? Would Lehigh jump over Eastern to get another seed?

Little chance of the cards falling like this, but ti would be interesting, to say the least ( and yes I know the rankings don't determine the seeds, but still it is fun to pretend)

I agree. It must be the same idiots giving JMU 131 votes. After all both have the same number of losses although all of UD's losses were to A-10 teams. JMU's were not. UD has a win against a quality Lehigh team. JMU's quality wins OOC include Lock Haven and who else Del State?. UD beat JMU well 2 weeks ago.

There are more injustices in this poll than UD getting 7 votes Jeff. Pay attention to the whole picture. Neither JMU or UD should have ANY votes.
