No one is picking HU to lose by less than 10 much less actually win the game. xrolleyesx I think the game will be closer than expected. HU played last week and gave away free game tape so they are at a disadvantage but its all about the team that executes.

Where are the SIU fans?

I'll be pulling for the "Pie-rats" in Carbondale...

But on the real, ya'll QB needs to learn how to run that offense, he got rattled by JSU too easily.

I would think playing last week would be an advantage.

However, I feel home field advantage is greater....

Dude,

This was his second game as a starter and first game this year. Expect the confidence to continue to rise during the week for a second demonstration this weekend. Did you see the progression from the 1st to the 2nd to the 3rd Quarter? Let's see how he does in a truly hostile environment with very few supporters.

Even with the less than quick defensive line and a flat out slow offensive line, we expect to be competitive. Very competitive.

You can be competitive if you keep the scoring down to a minimum...that means long sustained drives with a heavy dose of the running game (thats how you make up for a slow O-line, you run right at those mofos xlolx ) The low 20s Hampton can win that kind of game, just like we saw last week. But the higher the scoring gets the more I think SIU will win by. But I'm still pulling for you "Pie-rats", get our conference strength up so we can get an at-large berth this year xthumbsupx

Last year we called off the dogs early and rested starters for the playoff run.

This year? Lots of things in Hampton's plus column and SIU's minus column:

Hampton is loaded with SEC xfers and has already played a game. The biggest improvement comes from the first game to the second game.

SIU has a new coach and a new system they will be playing. There are bound to be missed assignment and blown plays. Hampton's athleticism could make us pay.

Having said that, I think SIU has the horses to take care of business.

If anybody does any running right at those mofos it will be SIU; O-line and RB are our strengths this year. If Hampton has a slow O-line it will be a very long day for your QB.

Too many variables to make an accurate prediction. Both teams have many new faces, new coaches, and new systems. If we make adjustments from last week, the game will be close- not more than one touchdown by either team. If we play liken we did against JSU- it will be a very long day for us.

Just a few clafications......

Although it appears that we are "loaded" with SEC xfers, some are still being adjudicated through the NCAA and can not play. Holes at Safety and CB were glarring deficiencies over the weekend.

Agree that the big improvement is game one to two; however, the magnitude of "Big" is always questionable. I would rather have actual gae tape to follow sitting at home on my but than to have played and sustained a few bumps and bruises before the next big game.

New coaches and schemes all around so that's a draw.

Home field advantage in this instance carries tremendous weight. Last year, HU was wrapping up a disappointing season with little support during the last great weather weekend of the fall. There will be virtually no one cheering for HU at this game. Very hostile environment.

The new coach will bring a style of D that is very tough to move the ball on. Look for your QB to be sacked often and LB's in the backfield all day long. Likes to blitz(run or pass) Almost everydown.

Dale Lennon is a very good coach. You will see why tomorrow.

Our OLBs each had 14.5 tackles for a loss last year, although one of them was a DE. They are very fast and can make an OT look real bad, you'll hear their names a lot tomorrow. Hampton's QB will need to make decisions very quickly.

They are small LBs and Cloud played DE last year at 215 (215 on the program!). When I say they're fast I don't mean fast for LBs, and I think only four teams rushed for 100 yards against us last year. I agree that Hampton's best option is to run straight ahead.

OK, everything remotely related to winning this game appears to be a very TALL order for the Pirates. Appears that we won't get anything out of Carbondale but a harsh smackdown. I look forward to seeing the game PLAYED on the field.
