James Brown is back in town.
The former West Brook star and University of Texas quarterback will join the coaching staff at Lamar. The announcement will come late today.
Brown will be joined by Tommy Mainord, a former Sam Houston State assistant who will serve as the Cardinals' offensive coordinator. Roger Hinshaw, a longtime assistant to former Rice coach Ken Hatfield, will be named Lamar's defensive coordinator.
