If this becomes the prevailing attitude among top FBS schools, I wonder if we'll ever see another App/Michigan again, especially with how important polls are to FBS:

In regards to USC jumping over both Georgia and Ohio State in the AP poll:

"Some have said the voters are taking our schedule into consideration," Carroll said.

"There's a bit of a growing backlash for the amount of teams that open with I-AA cupcakes," said Mandel, whose book "Bowl, Polls and Tattered Souls" chronicles college football's controversies. "To see a team (USC) go on the road and play a New Year's Day bowl team from last season, and not only play them but destroy them, how could you not reward that team?"

It's a sad truth when you look at the majority of 1A vs 1AA scores so far. We have a few games left vs the 1A's but missed a few good opportunities in the 1st week for upsets.

As long as FBS teams need home games and as long as FCS teams need a big paycheck, they will be around.

One game against a big school can pay for all the scholarships at some schools. I just wonder when FBS will get a clue and get a playoff.

I don't think it would be a problem if they didn't have their silly BCS stuff. FI they played a playoff system, no one would care about their ranking (to a point) and just win their conference. I for one would like to see the BCS die a quick painful death, but I think is along the lines of the Golden Rule and will be around for a while. I hope it doesn't mean the game will get fewer and fewer, but it might.

Skinny_Uncle hit it right on the nail head -- money. FBS will continue their silly bowls due to the revenue and sharing the wealth (64 teams in bowls vs 12 teams in playoffs).

The other option is what Clemson Did. Schedule a top 25 Team and get smoked. They did not drop one spot, they fell out of the polls all-together. So your options are beat an FCS team and fall one spot or lose to a top 25 team and fall out of the poll. xrulesx xrulesx xrulesx
