I probably shouldn't do this but I will.

See the discussion at http://www.operationsports.com/forums/college-football/248507-appalachian-state-over-lsu-7.html#post2038489373

I'm in there defending FCS (my first post is #59) and the option spread offense.

Bolded items are what I added

The 1AA champions was a joke until Michigan lost. That one game has apparently changed history. The previous national champions since 1995 (don't feel like going back farther) had lost to 1A teams by:

13 (to a 3-9 NC State team) - App. State, 2006
24 (to an 11-2 LSU) - App. State - 2005
35 (to 8-4 WVU) - JMU 2004
45 (to 11-2 KSU) - Western Kentucky, 2002
18 (to 9-3 Hawaii) - Montana 2001
22 (to an 8-4 UGA team) - GSU 2000
7 (to a 7-5 Oregon St team) - GSU 1999
17 to a 3-8 WSU team) Montana 1995

Most of these are teams are from a BCS conferences with winning records in their respective years. I wonder how the middle-of-the-pack SEC or Big XII teams would do on a given year if they had to play only teams that are all either from a BCS conference or from a non-BCS conference with a winning record. And not only that, but play them all on the road. When you take all things into accounts, these numbers don't look that bad, and neither does the overall FCS versus FBS record.
