ODU announced three additional games for its first year (2009) schedule. They also announced that the team will not play W&M in 2009 but that game will be rescheduled for 2010.

Thank God we won't be sending our team to slaughter in the second game of the season. Instead lets at least wait a year for that beat-down.xlolx
I do however like the addition of NC Central, Savannah State and VMI.xthumbsupx

Sorry that I didn't see the thread already posted for this subject.

I know what you mean because we sure took our lumps the first year (still taking them at times). Troy beat us 28-0, Texas State 38-17, McNeese smoked us 58-20 and Northwestern had five returns for TDs to beat 87-27. It was a rough stretch, no doubt about it, but we did come back in year two to beat McNeese 51-17 and took Texas State to double OT. In retrospect, I'm glad we jumped out there and scheduled some good people the first year. It gave us a good sense of where we were and how far we had to go become competitive. But I can definitely understand the desire to take an easier road...it's no fun getting smacked around.

Article in today's Daily Press with Wilder thanking W&M for working with them to change the schedule. Says he "will not forget it".

ODU and W&M both made the right move on this one. Trotting out a squad of true freshman in your second game to play a team of 5th-year seniors and other CAA veterans at their house would not be the right thing to do.
