Kindly post them here. I like to keep up with them. This seems like the best place by far to get these types of updates. Thanks!

Towson is getting a 22 year old redshirt freshamn QB from U of New Mexico, Blair Peterson.

Word is there is another FBS transfer in the pipeline, a linebacker, but I have no solid confirmation. I'll post when I do.

According to Mountaineer Illustrated, RB Devin Radford from VTech has transferred to App along with someone named Riddle. I don't have access to the subscription site, so any details that someone could provide would be great.

Reading up on Radford, it didn't seem like he was kicked off the team or had any type of negative record, he just got buried on the depth chart. Supposedly recorded the fastest time of all VTech RBs last year at 4.31.

They could be talking about Billy Riddle coming back to school. He has been on a mission in Sudan for the last year. He was Corey Lynch's back up at safety for 3 years. In fact Riddle started several games when Lynch dislocated his elbow in 2006. Here is his blog. http://www.billyriddlejr.blogspot.com/

They are talking about billy riddle and this adds some needed depth to the secondary. glorius.

not sure what we are going to do with all these running backs. atleast we dont need to worry about injuries affecting the running game.

I track this also so hope this becomes an active thread. I do expect the total number of transfers from FBS to FCS schools to go down each year as the pressure from the NCAA for schools to maintain higher GPA's increases. With fewer athletes transferring from FBS to FCS schools we will see the competition to sign high school players and jr college players will also go up.

Will the long term (5 years) effect increase or decrease the parity between the FBS and FCS schools?.

I expect this to drive up recruiting costs for the FCS schools. As fewer athletes transfer to any school this will also have a negative effect on athletes transferring to the weaker FBS confereces like the SB and MAC.

Don't you think that the NCAA’s pressure would have the inverse effect, where coaches would nudge failing players to transfer out of their school to boost their numbers?

Absolutely not. Athletes who leave a program ineligible (without exhausting 5-yr clock) are considered 0-for-2s which is the last thing you want. If a school has an 0-for-2 (someone who leaves school ineligible) and their APR is below 925, then an immediate penalty goes into effect and the scholarship can't be replaced.

That makes more sense; it gives the institution motivation to help the athlete succeed.

Turned in the second-best time in the 40 among the running backs during spring max testing with a 4.4 ... Got a look at several positions during the spring ... Played tailback in the Maroon-White game ... Rushed for 17 yards on two carries and caught a pass for a 9-yard gain ... His 17-yard run was the longest run of the game ... Also had a 16-yard kickoff return.

High School: Tallied 55 tackles and four interceptions his senior season at E.E. Smith High School for Coach Milton Butts ... Named defensive player of the year by the coaches ... Team had a 40-7 record during his time ... Averaged 8.9 rushing yards per game on offense, going for 12 touchdowns as a senior ... Named second-team all-Two Rivers Conference as a running back ... Caught five passes for 205 yards, scoring three touchdowns in 2005 ... On special teams, blocked a punt and scored three touchdowns as a return specialist as a senior ... Team captain in 2005 ... QB Clint Brewster is leaving the Minnesota Gophers. He has a brother at Northern Arizona, but they have a FBS QB transfer already.

Pioneer Press Link (http://www.twincities.com/gophers/ci_9617529?nclick_check=1)

He was, however, a four-star prospect out of Denver Mullen High School in Colorado in 2007.

Tim Brewster still has two sons on college football rosters for next season. His oldest, Eric, is a senior at Northern Arizona, and his youngest, Nolan, is a true freshman at Texas. Northern Arizona, a former Division-I AA program, would appear a possible destination for Clint because he could play immediately. But the Lumberjacks already have a Division I transfer at quarterback, sophomore Michael Herrick from the University of Mississippi.

Hasty was released from the team. It is one thing to pick up a transfer who is just looking for playing time, but another thing to pick up a kid release from a team because of problems. I would think that the Griz would pass on Hasty after the bad run of luck they have had over the last year and a half. Not worth the risk.

I'm not sure he would qualify as a thug type. Never in any trouble with the law. Disgruntled for lack of playing time is the word I hear. From what I read at Dawgman.com he skipped some workouts and was very disgruntled because he couldn't get playing time. He threatened to quit the team last year and that didn't sit well with Willingham. He got into the doghouse with the Coach and couldn't get out. Thus his rebellious attitude for the extra workouts. If he got to play his attitude might improve 150%. But that's up to O'Day and Hauck not the fans.

As I posted on EGRIZ, Hasty seems to not be extremely risky. It sounds to me his Freshman year he got too caught up in normal college pressures away from athletics and in turn did not know how to budget time and effort to academics. Since then he has apparently got his academics to par. His effort apparently was there, he was working hard in the weightroom to get bigger to increase his chances of playing time. Then last season he got injured, in turn probably got frustrated and confused. Willingham had a few words to him which he took out of context and responded in a negative way. He got in Willinghams doghouse and had no way out. Despite that kept his grades up. Now he wants to get the opportunity and fresh start he cannot get at UW.

Also his father being a former NFLer helps direct this kid properly on and off the field. This kid certainly isn't a thug, but someone uncomfortable in his situation and trying to better it. Sort of like being at a job you are good at, but due to politics not given the opportunity you deserve. I am all for the GRIZ taking a flyer on this kid. I have no doubts he will turnout just fine. To me there are not alarms and whistles going off indicating to stay away from him. Give him a shot GRIZ!!!!

Didn't we get another kid from Washington in a similar situation a few years back? xwhistlex That didn't finish perfectly, but it wasn't a train wreck either.

I'm more concerned about using up a scholarship on a player who may not be more productive than what we have now. Do potential transfers do a workout for the coaches (a la NFL)?

Probably the most media notable was Russell Ball formerly of Fla St. 5-9 175lb RB who's been compared to former seminole RB WDunn. He spent the spring semester '08 on campus and it's my understanding that he'll miss the 2 first regular season games due to the grade scandal @ FSU last fall.

Ball's father is Derrick Florence, ran the 100 meters in 10.13 seconds at a meet in Texas in 1986. According to Track and Field News, that is the fastest 100-meter time ever recorded by a high school sprinter.

It's my understanding the apple didn't fall too far from the tree, so to speak.

Also, there are 5 txfers from various Big XII schools (Kansas, OU, TxA&M, UT-Austin) that are SUPPOSED to currently be on campus but I dare not state their names until I see the official fall '08 roster. :)

Former Clemson receiver Jeff Ogren is among three players who have transfered to Samford in Birmingham, Ala. the school announced Tuesday.

The Bulldogs also signed quarterback Matt Malouf from the University of Memphis, along with LSU tight end J.D. Lott.

Malouf will join a crowded race for the starting job at quarterback.

He played in 12 games for Memphis as a redshirt freshman last season.

Ogren and Lott are both Alabama natives. Ogren played in four games last season while Lott was a scout team player for national champion LSU.

MSU added to its secondary on Tuesday...

Montana State bolstered its last line of defense on Tuesday, when Cory Nicol transferred into the Bobcat program.

Nichol comes to MSU from the University of Washington, where he attended classes last year without playing football. Nichol left the team last August after suffering an injury during preseason camp. A 5-10 cornerback, Nicol prepped at Woodinville, Wash., High School.

"Cory is a highly-skilled defender who has excellent coverage abilities coupled with the willingness to play aggressively against the run," said Bobcat coach Rob Ash. "He is a dependable and reliable young man who will fit in well with the other members of the team in spite of his late arrival. We look forward to seeing how he competes for playing time once fall camp begins."

Very interesting story about this kid. He was a walk-on JR. at UW and was going to get significant playing time and maybe start but with a reoccurring groin injury(that was surgically repaired) he decided to leave the team. He was quoted as saying he probably couldn't play football anymore. Coach Ash is taking a chance but hopefully his injury is fully healed.

There is a an unsubstantiated sighting of DJ Hord WR from Notre Dame on the UNI campus. Interested to see how it would play out, but if he is added, there would now be 9 6'+ WR. That's in addition to the 6'4" - 6'7" TEs.

Syracuse DE/DT transfer: Delaware or JMU???

Brandon Gilbeaux (6'3", 276) a starter last year at Syracuse..

http://www.delawareonline.com/blogs/2008/07/another-transfer-in-hens-nest.html

The guys on gohens.net that attended practice today said that Mr. Gilbeaux practiced with the Hens, wearing #96. It's odd that there's been no official release, so I can't say this is a 100% done deal, but he's apparently chosen UD over JMU.xthumbsupx

He made Talley look small. Although I saw him at DT next to Talley not a DE. I'm sure they will shuffle that front 4 around when Matt moves back and forth from DE to LB.

Hasty was released from the team. It is one thing to pick up a transfer who is just looking for playing time, but another thing to pick up a kid release from a team because of problems. I would think that the Griz would pass on Hasty after the bad run of luck they have had over the last year and a half. Not worth the risk.

If Montana gets this speedster.....might as well give them the Big Sky Title.......

again......

But then again....I think most have already done that regardless :D

As of recent:

Stoker added two transfers to the roster Sunday: Colby Arceneaux, a 5-9, 195-pound sophomore safety from John Curtis High School who coming from Ole Miss; and Lamont Simmons, a 6-2, 210-pound redshirt freshman linebacker who spent last season at Tulane out of O. Perry Walker High School in New Orleans. Arceneaux’s father, Bryan, was a four-year letterman (1981-84) on the defensive front for the Demons, helping NSU win the Gulf Star Conference championship as a senior.
