The Hose are ready to lock and load. We've had our baptism by fire this past season and even pulled off an upset by beating Coastal Carolina at their house in OT. We also had close games against Western Carolina, Samford, and Charleston Southern [all games in which Tim Webb did not start]. Granted, these last three aren't the cream of I-AA, but we're new at this. We're stronger, faster, and a lot of our younger players have gained significant gametime experience.

It's going to be a rough season in 2008 though, as we open up at Wofford and play App State in late September. A seriously talented Liberty's comin' a knockin' in Clinton as well as a rebuilt Coastal Carolina team looking for payback. Elon won't be a push-over, either. They've beaten us the last three times we've played them. Anyway, as it stands now, I'm calling a 7-5 season. We'll win against VMI, Western Carolina, North Greenville, NC Central, and Fayetteville State, and lose against Liberty, Wofford, and Appalachian. The games against Elon and Coastal will be very tight.

First of all I screwed up and meant to write 7 and not 6, you may have a point about the D-line as well. I was just going by the preseason depth chart.

You could say 8 starters are returning and even that number may be misleading with all the corners that are coming back(Colvin-injury and Mitchell-came back to team). Even though we lost some D-lineman there was a lot of rotation happening with the line, it seems like we have experience coming back at every position. This year's defense could be better then the 2006 version.

Your team was perhaps the most athletically talented team that I've watched North Dakota State play in the last couple of years. Right up there with Ball State & Central Michigan. I could see Cal Poly making a good run this year. I'm giving Cal Poly the nod in the Great West, and a playoff spot. After that, I couldn't really say. Good luck to Cal Poly. As for me personally, living in SoCal, I will miss having the Bison coming to California once a year, to Cal Poly or UC Davis.

Your quarterback could be the key, if he stays healthy. He's a very elusive runner.
