Couple to watch out for from JMU:

QB, Rodney Landers: He's nasty.

WR-RB, Kerby Long: R-freshmen that players and coaches have been raving about. Can't wait to see him on the field.

CB, Scotty McGee: Very fast and really started playing well once he came back from injury last year. Also returns kicks.

WR Johnny Gray - Led the Gateway in receptions and recieving yards per game. Also a dangerous kick returner.

Not to sound ignorant but who is this? Position, year, size, stats (college or HS)... Sorry just interested...

No prob! He's a 5'8" 179 lb receiver.

Has had limited time but averages around 24-26 yards per kick return and is a speedy and sure handed little guy. That type of player has traditionally done very well at Montana (Jimmy Farris, Matt Wells, Jefferson Heidelberger, Levander Segars) - I know you don't know those names but ask any Griz fan and they will tell you how vital those guys were.

This bio is from the Griz website (and has not been updated to 2007)

Rob Schulte ended spring drills as a back-up at the “Y” wide receiver spot. He has been the Grizzlies' leading kickoff returner the past two seasons, and ranked among the Big Sky Conference leaders during that time.

2006: He led the Griz in kickoff returns, averaging 22.3 yards on 26 attempts. His 22.3-yard average ranked him second in the Big Sky. He was UM's fifth leading receiver with 20 receptions.

2005: He was ranked second in the Big Sky and 14th in the nation in kickoff returns, averaging 26.1 yards on 23 attempts. He also had three catches for 15 yards and a touchdown catch. He was moved from running back to wide receiver as a redshirt freshman.

2004: He was tabbed UM's “Outstanding Scout Team” player on offense. He was also one of three players voted “Lifter of the Year.” He was a redshirt at Montana.

High school: He was named Montana's Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior when he rushed for a school-record 1,757 yards and 30 touchdowns at Great Falls High School...an all-state selection as a junior and senior at running back, and as a returner his sophomore year...offensive MVP and team captain in football his junior and senior seasons...named offensive MVP of his conference his senior year...head football coach was Greg Dart...career-wise he rushed for 3,066 yards and 48 touchdowns...he participated in Montana's annual East-West Shrine and the Montana-North Dakota games...he also earned four letters in track.

Personal: His parents are Mark and Judy Schulte of Great Falls. His major is sociology. Birth date: June 20, 1985.

Career highs: He had six catches for 57 yards in an NCAA Football Championship Subdivision semifinal game against UMass last season. He had six kickoff returns for 138 yards against Cal Poly on November 26, 2005. His long kickoff returns are 56 yards at Eastern Washington last season and at Montana State in 2005. He had five punt returns for 86 yards, including a 58-yarder for a touchdown in 2005 in the season opener against Fort Lewis.

I know it's not impressive, but I just love the way Schulte plays.

I think Quick will be solid but I still believe that the order will go Courman, Hillary, Johnson, Quick... Josh Johnson just has more experience and sure hands, especially across the middle... And TJ will be another great possesion receiver. Coco will become the Jackson of last year and will continue to be great on KR's.

Roberts is great....Blanchard won't sniff the top three of Socon.....he's not even the best in your state (Furman kid)....

Not many people have really taken a critical look at his playing. I saw many things during his three games last season that lead me to believe that he will surpass Duran Lawson in pretty much every category except rushing, and that one will be close.

Last year, the premiere QB in the El Cid - Elon game was Blanchard. He whipped Elon's defense. Riddle started all last season, and he is a great quarterback who will only get better. That being said, watch for Blanchard to have bigger numbers than Riddle next year.

He whipped Elon's defense.

What team didn't whip the Elon defense last year? There were maybe 3 games when we had anything close to our entire starting D (South Florida, GSU & Wofford come to mind). Our D gave up 30 ppg and 407 yards of offense per game. I'm not trying pick, but I don't think the Elon D is a good measuring stick. This season will probably be different though (18 returning starters).
