I said GOOD.

We just got rid of a problem we don't need another.

Why do you all only have 1 scholarship QB in the first place?

Go after some good DII QBs. Abilene Christian's QB, Malone is a STUD. He lit us up last year. I believe he originally signed with SMU out of HS, so it might be hard to convince him to transfer again.

Just seems like you guys have announced multiple studs here recently.

That was the first thing that came to my mind too.

That would be neat. He could start against GT in August.

When Cedric was signed out of JUCO, the 2 sophmore qb's left the team. That left JSU with Cedric and Matt Hardin, who was a senior this past season. So now the Gamecocks are down to a hometown walk-on, another "persistant problem" transfer who has been kicked off tht team once before, and a few guys who played QB in high school but now play on the defensive side of the ball.xnonono2x

Well 1st you cant recruit players who are on the roster of another school, that would be a tiny NCAA violation. 2nd transfering up or laterally would require sitting out a year, so not very helpful.

At the end of the semester after spring workouts there will be a few more FBS QB's looking for immediate opportunities to play. Just be patient.

Glad he didn't sign with us. He told us he was committed and all set to sign with us the night before the early signing period but switched to Jacksonville at the last minute. Not surprised at the latest developments.

TTU pulled that off last year, sort of, when our 1st 3 QB's went down with injury and had to start a WR at QB for two games (and played some against Jax St., I do believe). Of course, they lost those games, but what do you expect? Crowe will come up with something...But, this news helps us a bit up at TTU!

Only problem is that they would be really late in joining the team and it would be hard for them to contribute this year.

As usual, I'm fuzzy on the transfer rules.
Taylor Bennett has one year left.
Can he transfer to FCS and play this year?
Thought that you need at least two years left to do that.

If you transfer to an equal or higher division level you have to sit a year. If you transfer down a level you do not have to wait a year. xrulesx

THAT of course everybody knows.
Didn't the NCAA institute a restriction for players with less than two years left? Or was that rescinded recently?

Found it: from NCAA 07-08 Transfer Guide (Note 1-a):

Exceptions for Divisions I and II
If this is your first transfer …
If you have never transferred before from a
four-year school, you might be able to use
the one-time transfer exception to play right
away at a Division I or II school.
To use this exception, you must:
1. Be playing a sport other than basketball
in Division I, men's ice hockey in Division
I or football in Division I. Note that in
football you may be eligible to use this
exception if:
a. You transfer from a Football Bowl
Subdivision (formerly Division I-A)
school to a football championship
subdivision (formerly Division I-AA)
school and have at least two seasons
of competition remaining; or
b. You transfer from a football
championship subdivision
(formerly I-AA) school that offers
athletics scholarships to a football
championship subdivision (formerly
Division I-AA) that does not offer
athletics scholarships.

Crowe praises defense and yes it does win championships........but.......at some point......you gotta score. That will be tough to overcome but he will figure out something. Maybe the ole "Notre Dame box"? Just snap it to a running back and well..........pray.xsmiley_wix

Check with LSU xwhistlex

I listened to a radio interview with Perrilloux's high school coach this afternoon. He said that when Perrilloux got in trouble last year he got calls from 5 "I-AA" schools. And that's just schools calling his high school coach. I'm sure a lot more had designs.

Perrilloux was a sophmore in 2007.

If he is trouble at LSU, he will be trouble at any FCS school. But, of course there will be at least 5 schools willing to bet their team chemistry and season on a hope and a prayer xsmhx (shades of Cecil the Diesel) Thankfully, I think we Cowboy fans can rest assured RP would never be welcome at McNeese. xthumbsupx

A player is allowed to transfer for one year if he has completed his degree, and will enroll in a new degree program at the school he transfers to.

If that's the case then JSU might want to talk to Tribble Reese. He was a RSJR backup at Clemson last season, but decided to be recognized as a senior during Senior Day because he was graduating in December and decided not to use his final year of eligibility. He's from Mountain Brook, Alabama.
