As I predicted before the season started EWU has a suspect defense and will have to outscore teams. Interesting that PSU had the best defense in the Big Sky last year and is struggling. By the way, for you SDSU fans your defense would rank #23 ahead of Cal Poly, you are giving up 273 yds per game.

It might give the impression that PSU is struggling on defense, but it was with defense that we won our two games against Davis and Sac St. Maybe the numbers are skewed by our loss to Oregon State. We slowed their running game but could not stop the passing game, especially in the second half.

With so many teams either playing IA's or DII's this early in the year, stats are all over the place.

I would love to see our stats minus the Oregon game.

If you took math classes instead of WEED Identification classes, you would be able to separate out the Oregon stats from the other two games.

And then take your ample time and compare them to everybody else who played a I-A vs. those that played two vs. those that played an NAIA vs...., etc., etc....

Your point is made, 37, but then wouldn't you have to take the D-II game out of the mix too? We have a ways to go before stats are going to mean a lot.

The Griz D stats will be good, count on it. They'd better be... :( :D :)

NAU's defense looks pretty solid. Thus far, they have given up:

13 points to Division II Adams State (7 of which came in garbage time)

31 points to Division I-A Arizona (24 of which came in the 1st half)

7 points to Southern Utah

That's an average of 17 ppg given up. The NAU offense is averaging slightly above 30 ppg.
