If it could, would HC would play fewer PL opponents (code named "B" & "G") if it could instead play more local opponents?

In my opinion, absolutely.....do you really think HC would rather play Bucknell and Georgetown rather than play say UMass and Dartmouth?

There's just no way.....

Not arguing it, but the PL can adjust the schedules anyway they see fit.

Why not play the teams in one's own conference?

In 2027, Colgate will be at Colorado, at William and Mary, home to Albany and most likely at Cornell.

It was a rhetorical question. There are some HC fans who would prefer local opponents over relatively distant programs that are not competitive in the current PL model. There is likely a smaller subset who would prefer playing a schedule of older days: Army, BC, UMass, Colgate, Harvard, Dartmouth, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Brown, and Yale.

if you're a HC fan/alumnus from the 1960s, 70s or 80s. (pre-PL) you would much rather see HC play teams from that era (BC, Army, UMass etc) than pretty much any team in the current PL not named Colgate.

HC had football rivalries with its Jesuit cousins Fordham and Georgetown years ago....but both those schools dropped football decades ago....it's hard to re-establish those rivalries when those games didn't happen from about 1950-2000.

There would be better rivalries if Georgetown improved its program to be comparable to its fellow PL institutions.

This has been discussed before. Georgetown does not offer merit aid.

Holy Cross never had a real rivalry with Georgetown: they played just seven times from 1913 to 1950.

Were it not for the PL, I don't think Holy Cross would be interested in playing Georgetown.

We're not Jesuit nor New England but would love to see Villanova and Holy Cross sign a long-term H/H scheduling arrangement similar to what we had with Lehigh. Of course that's assuming HC's new coach can keep the Chesney momentum going.
