Robinson Museum bond funding approved
Funding for a $2 million renovation of a women's gym and surrounding area to become the Eddie G. Robinson Museum on the campus of Grambling State University has been approved, the secretary of state's office says.
According to a release from Secretary of State Jay Dardenne, the project includes bringing the structure up to museum standards and providing proper drainage.
"I think it's exceptional that we are able to progress so quickly on this project less than a year after Coach Rob's death," Dardenne said in his release. "The museum will be a fitting tribute to this legendary man."
Agency staff and architect Lauren Marchive of The Newman Marchive Partnership Inc. will continue plans without delay with the secured funding. Schematic designs are in place and will be followed by a design and development period.
