Only first 1/4 to 1/3 of the article is free. In another thread, I posted a link to an interview with one of the members of the mentioned committee composed of FCS and non-football D-I brass.

Maybe reach out to Chattown to see how you can speed up the process...I think it only took him about 150 post to get there, but that is the record!!! Something to shoot for!

Takes at least 50 posts before we start hating on somebody here, unless you are gifted or something.

Not much of a FCS football presence.

Not much of a FCS football presence.

Yeah they could have had at least one of the AE ADs be from Albany, Bryant, UNH or Maine.

I was thinking maybe: Big East, WCC, MVC (MVFC combo), Big Sky, Ivy... with those identified.

Interesting article (at least up to the point where a subscription is required) but I'm not sure there is much new information (at least before the paywall).

I think this quote within the article (about March Madness) is interesting. Not because it comes as a surprise but because it's the exact argument we see every year on this site about the FCS playoffs and auto vs. at-large berths.

However, discussions between the commissioners and NCAA go beyond the topic of revenue and also include the growing wish for more access in the form of at-large spots. In the meeting with Baker, commissioners were transparent about their desire for more access in a 68-team field that includes 32 automatic qualifying spots — 27 of which go to non-power leagues.
“I want to see the best teams competing for a national championship, no different than (the Big Ten and SEC) want to see in football,” Yormark said. “I’m not sure that is currently happening.”

Thanks for posting the article. Sort of states the obvious...something must be done. I am glad some are taking the lead and getting serious discussions going regarding the future of colleges "of our ilk" who are not conducting a business in college sports, but providing an important adjunct to the educational process.

This article form this weekend's Fortune is very concerning. Depending on the year, the NCAA has about 25 institutions (on a good year) that are truly self sufficient (no money from the general budget and no student fees). That means the other 1125 member institutions operate in the red. So without student fees or some outside support they would cease to exist...or at the very least be drastically trimmed down. The 25 schools that do post positive revenue may be able to treat their athletes as employees, but the rest can not/will not. College sports has enjoyed a fun ride, but I'm afraid it is over. I'm afraid all sports will now be considered club sports. Players will provide their own gear, and with the cost of FB gear being around $2500, most teams will dry up!
