View Full Version : Presenting OL FU's Best of Playoffs 2007

Mountaineer
December 19th, 2007, 02:15 PM
OL FU (xbowx) entrusted me with his little Excel spreadsheet last year in good faith that I would keep it going. xnodx

So without further ado, I present the 2007 edition.

Notes:
#1 This is all in good fun. If you want to whine about the methodology or where you think your team should be ranked - save it for someone else - I don't care. xthumbsupx

#2 Everything presented is straight by the numbers. I play no favorites and have done my best to be as accurate as possible.

#3 This is all in good fun. If you want to whine about the methodology or where you think your team should be ranked - save it for someone else - I don't care. xthumbsupx

Now, on with the show:

December 19th, 2007, 02:16 PM
Since the playoffs began in 1978, a grand total of 80 teams have participated in the tournament.

The newest being Delaware State who played their first this year.

Mountaineer

Format for awarding points is as follows:

5 points - First Round
10 points - Quarterfinals
15 points - Semifinals
20 points - Championship Game
25 points - Winning the Championship Game

1978-80: Grand total of 125 points between the participating teams.
1981: Total of 205 points between the participating teams.
1982-1985: Total of 265 points between the participating teams.
1986-present: 285 points between the participating teams.

Although Stephen F. Austin vacated the 1989 game, I believe the consensus was to continue to include their point total.

Teams that have since moved up to I-A are also included. Perhaps at another time I'll redo the list and leave the schools who have left out of the final results.

Interesting also to see the rise of the CAA through the recent playoffs, half of the conference (or 6 teams) made the top 15 over the past 5 years.xbowx

How embarrassing. I thought about commenting the first time then I walked away to do something else. When I got back I typed. Turns out I did post the first time.:o I just wasn't paying attention.

And yes, it does bother me. We have faded from what we used to be and it bothers the hell out of me. After 7 seasons since the last championship, why are we STILL rebuilding? We should have been able to build up by now.

No kidding. If you would have ask me in the early part of the season if we had one I would have said no. But we hung in every game and found away to win. Lots of people thought we lost it on the "slip and fall" but honestly we lost it at Western. We win that game and we are seeded above App and play at homexrollxnodx eyesx
