SLC Week 10 Pick 'Em


There are three contests this week, all conference games, and all having afternoon kickoffs.


SLU, who had earned a victory over Northwestern State the hard way and then had an open week, hosts McNeese who was awarded a victory over NSU as the Demons cancelled the remainder of their season.


Nicholls lost a non-conference contest in heartbreaking fashion to SEMO but is still tied with UIW for the conference lead as UIW gave Lamar its first conference loss, and so this is the SLC game of the week as these two undefeated conference teams meet in San Antonio. This game serves as UIW's Homecoming.


Lamar put up a good fight against co-league leader UIW before falling. The Cardinals will try to rebound against Commerce who fell at HCU and are on a 3-game losing streak.

I won't have Northwestern State to kick around anymore. I lost more votes on them than anyone else because I figured Laird was on the hotseat and that the Demons had talent, so I kept taking a chance on them without realizing what an absolute mess they were.

Second on the list is Nicholls. I pick them almost every time. I think they are good, but are they good enough? They seem to be able to score, but can they stop anyone? UIW has found a defense (thanks to Jim Gush) but can they outscore Nicholls or will they be able to shut the Colonels down? The Colonels defense has played well against Commerce, HCU, and McNeese. I'm really stuck. Do I pick UIW because they are at home?

Lamar and Commerce is a tossup, but except for McNeese, the Commerce Lions don't seem to put a lot of points on the board.

As for McNeese and SLU, SLU just has some kind of jinx over the Cowboys. I think the Lions have won 4 out of the last 5 (or something like that), but the games are usually close and down to the wire.

Im worried about a let down carrying over fron UIW game. Also, that was as hard a hitting game Ive seen in a long time. Quite a few injuries .

I am now 39-7 after last week. I am not counting the McNeese/Northwestern St game as a win for McNeese even though I thought McNeese was going to win.

Lu defense played a heck of a game today. Commerce didnt do much till 4th qtr vs backups. This D will flat out hit! Come a longggg way since begining of season.

Our already less than good OL lost at 2 more. We’re down to playing tuba players and freshmen on OL

2-1 this week. I didn't think Nicholls would win. So I think I am 41-8 for the season.

WAY TO GO, NICHOLLS!!!!! I have been picking the Colonels all season long in these polls and they have cost me. They finally did what they should have been doing all season long.

LU scored 41 points, but I heard the fans were disappointed.

McNeese lost to SLU, but may have found the future in QB Sixkiller. I'm still hoping for a new DC next season. Teams aren't going to win in the SLC if they can't stop the run.
