Alcorn State head football coach Dr. Johnny Thomas was fired from the position on Monday after a 10-year career.

Thomas led Alcorn State to an overall record of 48-61, with a 2-8 overall record in 2007

Though I don't really follow Alcorn football, this seems a little kneejerk.
The Braves had 6 straight winning seasons prior to this year.

Alcorn fans have been wanting to get rid of the Good Doctor for the longest, they've always been average. You never knew what to expect from that squad.

Not really... they are 48-61 in 10 seasons. That's an average of 4.8 wins per year, not good by any standards. Its past time for a change...a team that was once a conference heavyweight hasn't been good since Steve McNair departed in 1993 or thereabouts.
