Missouri Valley Conference deputy commissioner Sherika Montgomery has been named the new commissioner of the Big South Conference. Montgomery is the first new commissioner for the conference since 1996 and was named after the long overdue retirement announcement of Kyle Kallander back in October. Montgomery has previous experience as a conference staffer in the Big South but has also served in, the Missourie Valley Conference, the Summit League, and the NCAA head office.

It may be worth noting that Montgomery's career stops in other conferences not named the Big South (MVC and Summit) are basketball conferences whose football-playing members play as associate members in other conferences. Does this give an indication of the Big South's future?
