If it's mathematically desirable to go for 2, you go for 2. Though most coaches don't because they're afraid of it for some reason (College & NFL).

What if the game ends 14-13?

If you need 2 to tie, you always should go for 2. It's arguable if it's the difference between going up 6 (2 FG's) or 7 (1 TD). But if you're down 8 & then 2 after the TD, you should always go for 2.

wrong, the thinking is that if you go for two early and fail, you just about force yourself to go for two the rest of the game. If you kick the PAT, you do not have that happen. True, it may end up 14-13, but playing the odds, it will not.

I would guess because it is still early in the game. Montana State could miss an XP with a whole half left, and then it would be tied.

Plus, Bobby loves to have his team make adjustments at half and slow offenses down considerably.

That thinking is wrong, though most coaches follow it.

But, if you kick the PAT, you're still going to have to go for 2 later, and you're still behind at the moment. Either way, you're probably going to need a 2PC at some point, so you might as well try to tie it now in case you go scoreless the rest of the way. I also favor getting it out of the way so you know what you need to do later, which can help with how you manage the clock.

Hardly an excuse. It is fact the field is sloppy, and our D can't get anywhere near their QB. For that matter, they can't get near our QB either.

We differ in opinion. But if you look at the percentages of converting PATS and going for two, it is a huge difference, and taking the higher percentage PAT early and going for two later is mathematically the better risk.

Yeah, I know that the percentage on 2PC's is low. However, I think that's because most coaches don't think about it as hard as they should. They should draw up some specific 2PC plays in the preseason so they're prepared when the situation arises.

Oh yes. There's typically one event in DT Seattle by Qwest Stadium and another spot on the Eastside.

Here's the link to all the parties US wide:

Good riddance to Jack Rolovich and Eric Fisher. This game only proves their ineptitude in big games even further.

For Coach Ash: find a QB and a kicker that have some consistency and can help the team WIN more than 6 or 7 games. If we aren't making the playoffs next year, then we need to reexamine some things. A better defensive scheme would certainly help our cause too.

Y'all did pretty well this year all things considered. Ash has a good staff in place and I feel confident the Cats will be back in the mix for BSC title/playoffs next year.

I didn't end up in Portland but watched the game at Taylor's on the UO campus. There were about 10-12 Griz and 5 Bobcats. Loud and rowdy, good time had by all. xthumbsupx After that EA TD to go up 27-14 the whole bar was chanting "Let's Go Grizzlies"

The griz did show up to play today, and truly set the pace to the game throughout the first half as well as the second, even though the score didn't reflect that (but the stats did). We are truly a second half team and it is fun to watch these close games they've played, even though a blow out is nice every once in a while. Great Season thus far.

Yeah yeah, all things considered. This team had a lot of talent return especially on defense, and I think people expected more out of the team. Ash needs to go out and get some good recruits to really make this team legitimate (mostly a QB and some WR's). Very disappointing finish to the year.

Maybe he should go in state more than Kramer did. Montana puts together good high school recruits, and it's a shame that the Universities don't go after them more than they should!

My house, or there are two bars that broadcast the games.

One is in downtown Seattle, and the other is in Kirkland, which is about 15 miles NE of Seattle in the burbs.

We need a QB and some WR's. I think that he would do better to look for those players elsewhere, as Montana tends to turn out guys that are good in defensive or lineman positions. No matter what way you look at it, Ash has some serious revamping to do.
