Dover, Del. (Feb. 19, 2023) --- The Delaware State softball team wrapped up its play at the University of Florida T-Mobile Tournament with a 15-0 loss to the host Gators this afternoon. The game was called after the Hornets batted in the top of the fifth inning due to the eight-run rule. Florida, ranked third in the latest national Division I poll, scored six runs in the first inning, three in the second and six more in the third. The Hornets were held to just three hits, although newcomer Destiny Beckham was two-for-two at the plate to raise her season batting average to .615 (8-for-13). She also stole a base in the game to improve to five-for-five this season. Emma Glawson also doubled in the game for the Hornets. Delaware State will play its 2023 home opener on Fri. against Hartford. Game time is et for 12:00 p.m. at the DSU Softball Field.
