The investigation into the football program at Alabama State is still open despite beginning in July 2003. A whole class has come through and graduated in that time frame -- if on the four year plan.
Attorneys are still cashing in because it's an open case -- one is making $16,000 a month to aid Alabama St.

'Advertiser' gains access to NCAA reports on ASU

An investigation by the NCAA into the football program at Alabama State University has dragged on twice as long as other cases because of the number of violations uncovered and the school's unwillingness to cooperate, documents show.
The inquiry began in July 2003 after the university submitted the findings of its own eight-month investigation into allegations of rules violations made by a former coach. The NCAA still is not finished with its investigation.
The internal investigation eventually resulted in the firing of three coaches -- head coach L.C. Cole and assistant coaches Johnnie Cole, L.C.'s brother, and Richard Freeman -- and the suspension of numerous players.
