FCS Playoff Bracket Challenge - Fall 2022

I thought it would be fun this year to again have a Playoff Bracket Challenge. I was not sure I would have the time (hence not starting this thread before now); however, I think if I expedite a few things, I can get it to work out.

To facilitate this, I am asking anyone who wishes to play to reply to this thread with “I’m in!”.


How to Play the Bracket Challenge

After I see that you are in, I will send a PM with a personalized link to a bracket (it is this bracket that needs to be filled out). To expedite this, there will be no other content in the message, just a link. So if you receive a PM from me, it simply contains the link to your individual bracket (a Google Sheet).

To complete the bracket, simply go to the gray boxes and type in scores for each game. Each bracket will autofill with teams as scores are picked, but double-check each line to make sure the team you picked is listed properly.

The deadline for submission will be the start of the first playoff game (12 PM ET), and at that point, the links to the sheets will no longer be active. Whatever you have entered at that time will be your submission. I will then compile all submissions into a single Google Sheet where scoring will be kept (and updated as game results come in), and everybody’s brackets will be available for viewing.

Again, if interested, reply in this thread with “I’m in!”, and I will send you the link to your individual bracket via PM. Also, be sure that you can receive PM’s (i.e., your inbox/sent items are not full). Good luck and happy picking!

The first set of brackets have been PM'ed to the each entrant above. It might take a second or two once you open it to populate the teams, but after that, you should be able to pick away. Let me know if you have any issues.

As for anyone else, if you are interested, simply post "I'm in.", and the next time I am able to, I will send out more fillable brackets via PM. We had 57 submissions last year, and we are up to 13 currently.

Yep, looked at the entire history of your bracket, and you picked 6 games, then inexplicably there was no activity on the sheet after that according to Google.

I don't think I can win, but I am the only one left that has UIW heading to Frisco. If they are able to pull off the upset, I should jump in the standings.

Edit: OOPS! Mr. Chicken also has the Cardinals in the natty.

Bracket scores and standings have been updated (link in signature).

Lot of SDSU picks at the top, so if NDSU can overcome the sure-to-be favorite Jackrabbits, then it will be interesting to see how score predictions factor in to the winner. If SDSU wins, then score predictions will decide for sure. I don't really have tiebreakers beyond that, so I may have to flip a coin, like the OVC.

Can't wait to see Border Battle 2.0 in Frisco. SDSU, bring the marker...just in case. ;)

Not necessarily true. There is game margin (margin of victory) AND there is score differential (differences from each team's score) that factor in. You may have SDSU by 3 pt, but at 20-17. taper has SDSU by 4, but at 28-24. Therefore, a lower scoring game would favor Chaos, and higher scoring game would favor taper. Chalupa has a greater margin of victory, so that could help there. Finally, quite impressed with grizband and POD, as they are even in the running despite missing the other semifinalist...impressive score picking has helped them. Anyway, I think this thing is wide open at this point.
