View Full Version : AGS Crazy 8’s Survival League - Week 11, Fall 2022

Preferred Walk-On
November 6th, 2022, 10:44 AM
Well, here it is. We will be going all 12 weeks, and like the Powerball, there will eventually be a winner. Unlike the Powerball, the prize will simply be the satisfaction of knowing you are an elite FCS mind...at least for a year.

The standings have been updated, and this time I sorted them to be indicative of incorporating all tie-breakers in the order in which they will be applied.

Below is the link for making Week 11 picks and the deadline. Any errors in your sheet or others', please let me know.

When creating the picks this week, I noticed there were a lot of coin flip type games. Made it easy to pick 30 games for us to use in the pickem contest. However, that means this guy will be brutal! Hopefully you have some teams saved!

I'm in. Looking at the scoreboard, should I assume that the only way I can win is if I'm the last man standing due to missing the deadline on week 4?I'm below 2 people with lower scores, but they have either a later or no elimination week. May have affected dedicating time to this each week knowing I had no chance xlolx

I might take this week serious, because if others drop a week, you are right in it. But you are correct...the first tie-breaker is elimination week number(s). Therefore, if somebody does not have an elimination week after this week, it would be impossible to win with one elimination week.

I'm running out of good teams. I saved quite a few as I was moving through the season, but used quite a few last week and this week.

The only way I could win is if the other 12 people still in all get eliminated. Of those remaining, I have the earliest elimination week. Basically since Week 4, my only chance to win was for every single other participant to eliminate themselves (with the exception of JacksFan40; if he and I were the only ones without a 2nd elimination, the number of right answers would decide). My bad for not reading the rules better.

With a PFL, MEAC, 2 SWAC and my keeper if I manage to get 8 right this week is a first-year transition team!

Should be an exciting final 2 weeks. I've managed to hold back enough good teams that I feel completely confident in all of my picks this week, though one game I did use a 1-8 team. Then again I've felt completely confident in all my picks every other week too and here I am 4 games back of the leader. Next week I should have 5-6 teams that I feel completely confident in as well but it may be too little too late. Hoping for a couple of 7-1 weeks to end the year and a couple of 5-3 weeks from the people in front of me.

I don't know how much work it would be, but I'd be interested in the end of year statistics. How many times each team was picked and then won or lost. Final aggregate is fine, don't need week by week.

Not planning on doing this; however, if you want to, all of the data are in the sheet in my signature. I could also send you the sheet with all of the responses (by week). Just let me know.

Also, I am in, and hoping to survive to next week when I will have no viable teams left to actually use. Chalupa...survive and advance, right?

I tried but since the data is in a private sheet I can't access it without screenscraping. If you can make it available I can do the work.

I put all the responses I have received for all weeks (including Week 11) into a Google Sheet (with any sensitive information removed). While this sheet is not editable, when you click on the link, it will ask you if you want to save a copy. That copy will be editable however you see fit and will not disrupt the original. CLICK HERE (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-EcT_ndCdHJobQP_TwnNWVvY2cBap45-8INY183j3jU/copy?usp=sharing) to download a copy of this sheet. After the Week 12 deadline, I will update the sheet to include the final week.

If there is something else I can help with, just let me know.

Even a pinch more difficult and most of us would be on the sidelines watching. I suppose you could limit the number of times you can pick a team to lose to maybe 3 times, I've gone to my "go to" teams, Presbyterian and Robert Morris, numerous times.

I’m open to whatever suggestions PWO has, but I think this has been appropriately difficult. Not easy enough that everyone advances and those of us that are still alive are struggling to come up with enough solid picks each week.

With the current rules an elimination week effectively means you won't win, so you might as well go to single elimination instead of double. Might change how we pick teams.
