The Area College blogger for the Houston Chronicle asked in his blog, "Is Texas Southern becoming the "new" Prairie View A&M?".

Many of us over the years have associated PVA&M with losing considering they have the longest losing streak in the history of the game. Now, the tides have changed for PVA&M.

Is Texas Southern heading down that bad road that PVA&M was on at one point? TxSo is having issues ranging from the ongoing President Slade mess to having an embattled athletic director. What's the deal? Could TxSo ever top PVA&M's mark?

Prior to the start of this football season, I pegged Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M as two teams on the verge of having breakout campaigns.

Nearly halfway into the season, only Prairie View (3-2 overall, 2-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) appears headed toward a breakout campaign. Texas Southern, however, is off to a disappointing 0-5 start with an 0-4 mark in the SWAC.

Prairie View needs to win three of its final five games to clinch its first winning season since 1976. On the other hand, Texas Southern could easily finish with its second winless season in four years.

Prairie View is 14-23 in three and a half seasons under coach Henry Frazier III. Texas Southern is 4-34 in the same span under coach Steve Wilson, with three of those wins coming last season.

it falls squarely on the shoulders of the offense....more specifically. They have a 4 year starter at QB who hasnt prgressed

Texas Southern has a LONG way until they become the new Prairie View. Didn't PV A&M lose 80 straight? Texas Southern is only at 8.

Also, didn't Prairie View go winless one of those years in basketball too?

Yep, Texas Southern has a long way to go, but PVA&M was synonymous with losing for so long. Can TxSo take that away from them?

Texas Southern has been dealt a rough MBB situation due to their administration's late hire of the MBB coach. They may have problems picking up wins as well this year...

Alcorn State up 22-20, goes for two and misses that, giving Tx So a chance to win with a FG...

TxSo misses the short FG with five seconds remaining and the losing continues for the Tigers...
