I think Furman is playing Deleware (not sure yet of home or away) as well as the Southern conference and one of the big schools named either USC or Virginia Tech.

That could be all wrong, except the SoCon part. Oh and we'll play Samford.

It's a 12 game season, We have 3 Conference games at home,

We go to SDSU, and an unnamed BCS money game.

We have 4 SLC games on the road.

Yes we are definitely at home, since we played at The Rock last year. Also for the conference games, we switch with the CAA North again giving us games with Maine, UMass and Hofstra. Seeing as how we have two CAA North road games this year, we'll have two of 'm at home this year.

Sam Houston in 2009, and Georgia Southern is up in the air. With the SoCon adding Samford, Georgia Southern is scheduled to play Samford the same day that the NDSU game was scheduled. NDSU's AD is trying to get a Gateway conference game rescheduled so the NDSU/GSU can still happen next year.

At this time last year I believe UNH had already had this years schedule announced. I have heard the Albany rumors and I assume that game will be in Durham... With the game at Army and heading to Dartmouth next year our AD is prolly looking for the 12th game someone to come to Durham.

I would think teams there looking at are Stony Brook, Central Connecticut State I doubt any of the mid to top level teams in the FCS will come to Durham and Im not sure UNH wants to add another road game.

As an aside, all of the Ivies with the exception of Cornell (and to a degree Penn) were either founded by protestant churches/ministers or were/are chartered as religious institutions.

Harvard - Puritan, although never officially tied to one denomination
Princeton - Presbyterian
Yale - Congregationalist
Brown - Baptist
Columbia - Church of England (Episcopal/Anglican)
Penn - Founded by ministers and Benjamin Franklin
Dartmouth - Congregationalist

It is interesting how the schools have become more secular as the centuries passed and are now much more inclusive to folks of all faiths.

My alma mater was founded as a religious school (Presbyterian)...

Jax State has the 8-game OVC schedule (minus Samford ... good riddance), plus Georgia Tech, Alabama State at home and Chattanooga on the road. Haven't heard anything about a 12th. We could use another FBS to make up for the dough we lost backing out of this year's Mississippi State game.

Is this a 12-game season because of the calendar, or did FCS finally vote to approve a permanent 12th game? I haven't heard.

Also I believe we have Montana at home next year, at least I hope so. Also, I heard we are trying to get the Davis game to be a permanent home and home year after year. A carryover from the days of DII. It might not happen next year, but I guess there are people trying to make it go.

Um, I was told something about a date getting mixed up. You guys had an offer (it may have been a I-A, not sure) for that date and asked if we could push the series back. We said yes and instead of it starting in 08 at JMU, it's starting in 09 at Liberty and running for four years.

Technically 6 since PC is still transitional and doesn't count towards conference standings. We're all playing PC though, so you could say seven.

i hope you all get a bid with the expanded playoffs... i believe the big south deserves it

xthumbsupx That is awesome... I know you guys can't wait. It will only make the FCS playoffs that much better. It has to suck having to watch another year from the sideline knowing that you can compete on a high level. Oh well '08 will be here before you know it.

10 so far, two to go. Samford being added, the JMU deal and Presby stepping up really helps us right now as it's hard to get a team to play us.

Heck, it was hard BEFORE Michigan. Now it'll be damn near impossible to find teams.

I suggest we get set up with a big name FBS team and have it on ESPN or ABC as I imagine the interest would be great.

NU's OOC is as follows for 2008 - only 11 games I'm told we may stay with 11 unless we can get a "high quality" game (i.e. we likely won't play a MAAC team or someone like Sacred Heart):

@ Ball State (August 28)
@ Georgia Southern
Cal-Davis

The CAA Schedule (in no order)
@ Towson
@ W&M
Villanova
UMass
UNH
URI
@Maine
@ Hofstra

NU's 2009 Schedule is interesting as the farthest the team travels is to Villanova...

OOC in 2009
@ Boston College
Holy Cross
Youngstown

CAA in 2009
W&M
Towson
Maine
Hofstra

The Citadel has Clemson and Florida in 2008. Coach Higgins prefers 1 FBS game per year but has to deal with the AD who is basing the sports dept. on $$$ to fund stadium expansion/scholarship funds. Agree with the other SOCON followers about the late release of schedules. Personally, prefer a home and home with another Academy like in the early '90s. Also a game with a top level FCS team annually in mid-atlantic or northeast. It's all about the playoffs and getting a shot. Go Dogs!

11/1/2008 Delaware

Im also considering a setup like NationalChamps.com does and have a page for every teams future schedules since a lot of teams have a game or two already schedule for several years in the future. If I do that I will work on it this winter after the playoffs.

SHSU is not playing NDSU in '08, they are playing in '09...

Also, for SWAC...TxSo and PVA&M play Labor Day weekend...so you can put that out there...

With the uncertaintly around the NEC AQ for next season (uncertain as to whether it will come in next season or in 09), this is a schedule made for at-large contention. There is really no other reason to play such a schedule. These teams aren't big payouts. The other one could have something to do with the fact that we are getting close to basically playing a CAA north schedule.xcoffeex

This schedule is INSANE!

Think about this for a second:

CCSU and Monmouth will be back to their old style next year. Robert Morris SHOULD...SHOULD be improved. And Duquense is adding 25 scholarships this fall to a team that is normally solid.

Basically, Albany is playing 5 Playoff (possible) teams and four others that should not bring down the GPI, Massey..whomever you want to use.

Heck, an 8-4 record with that schedule is the equivalent of a good 8-3 record during an 11 game season.

I know Flacco, Santos, and Coen are gone, but they reload. Fordham will be even stronger!

That, is arguably one of the toughest schedules for an OOC...no matter WHAT conference you are in.

In all seriousness, I actually don't mind the schedule. We need to take our licks (just like we did 8 years ago when we moved up) so we know what is expected.

I've always admired and enjoyed the schedule UA has put together over the years. 2008 again makes a statement that they are playing for a NEC championship and an at-large bid. Good for them! xbowx

That being said, I think this is a little too much. I think a few Danes fans pointed out this before, but they will at most have 30 schollys next year. Trying to go against 63 scholly playoff-caliber teams for 5 weeks straight to open the season (4 on the road) is insane!

Good luck to Albany and I think its great for the NEC too, I just don't want to see the Danes open up with a 1-4 record going into NEC. :)

It will be a toughie!!! Yes, we will have the max of 30 rides over probably 45-50 kids next season.

I will try and get some info as to what Monmouth's schedule will be. I have my doubts that we will see that Lafayette game. This year's game was cancelled and just have a feeling it will not go off. It was rumored at the beginning of the season that MU's first game is home vs. Maine (I guess the 6th). Again, we will have to wait and see.

Sounds similar to our schedule this season-Youngstown St. Richmond, Hofstra, Maine and Elon on the 17th we are doing it with about 45 scholarships. Its tough but it is the only way to develop a program overtime. Next year we will be at 57 scholarships or more- we should improve.

I'm not sure how much OOC USD can get, but if you added SUU and UNC, that would be a better schedule to argue with if they got a bunch of blowouts and played UCD and CP close...still not much of an argument though.

Compared to UC Davis' OOC for 2008:
home vs. EWU
@ Montana
@ Northeastern (if they still have football)
@ Central Arkansas
home vs. Univ. of North Dakota
then add in:
home vs. SUU
home vs. Sac State
@ Cal Poly
prolly home vs. Portland State, maybe home vs. Northern Arizona or @ South Dakota State and another DII perhaps, but with UND in there, you gotta go FCS with UNC or try and get a midwestern/eastern school to come out to Cali.

That and the possible USD schedule really doesn't compare, nor with 99% of FCS schools.

I think the first year they will be independent but im not sure. I think they also count as a Div II still for the first year so a lot of teams may not want to play them, but it being the NEC that may not be as much an issue since most of them already play atleast one Div II team so they can just make that Bryant.

unh plays at army and possible chance of albany, and dartmouth. According to McDonnell we are not playing 12 games, also in 2009 we are set to play at Pitt

Probably toughest in the country:

OOC
@Clemson
@Florida
Samford
Princeton
+ one

+SOCON schedule

dang, Les is making it hard to improve on 7-4.

LSU game isn't until 09. We have no FBS teams next year and I doubt any of them will agree to play us next year. Sucks.

We play the same schedule every year same weeks, same opponents, til 2011 at least. Holy Cross, Lehigh, Lafeyette, and the 7 other Ivies, just alternate home and away each year. With no playoffs, this is getting a little boring..........

You got that right! Harvard should shake up its OOC schedule, at least by playing other PL schools like we used to. We played Bucknell, Fordham and Colgate in the 90s. Better yet, follow Princeton and Yale's course of scheduling non-PL opponents. C'mon, Murph! Variety is the spice of life.xpeacex

2008 schedule
@Penn State
vs Colgate
vs Towson
@Presbyterian
vs Stony Brook
vs Liberty
@Gardner-Webb
@VMI
vs Charleston Southern

We will host Towson and Colgate and will return the favor to Towson in '09

We tried to get Sam Houston State but it fell through somehow.

CDB said he wants to play 12 games. 6 home 6 road. Not sure who the other 3 are.

I would suggest an OOC for U San Diego of

Sac State
UC Davis
Cal Poly
Azusa Pacific (Everbody gets 1 cupcake)

That's a schedule the fans would like to see, but here is what we will probably see:

Azuza Pacific
Cal Lutheran
Whittier
Northern Colorado

Note: This is just hypathetical. The schedule for USD usually doesn't get released for another 6 months or so.

I wouldn't mind seeing UCD, Poly, NAU, PSU, or Sac State on the schedule. I guess I can keep dreamingxnodx

Wouldn't Samford be a part of your SOCON schedule?

UCD adds Iona at home. UND in playing in Davis (we're not playing USD, as expected)

Home: North Dakota, Southern Utah, Sacramento State, Iona, Northern Colorado, Portland State
Away: San Jose State, Montana, Central Arkansas (which may be somewhere in Arkansas that isn't Conway), Northeastern, San Diego, Cal Poly

well you do got 'ucd so that is 1 of the teams on the list. Maybe it helps drop one of those D3 teams.

I'm pretty surprised Murphy is scheduling like that. There's nothing wrong with playing an all-PL OOC schedule, but the same three teams year in and year out? Not good.

Harvard should schedule Northeastern again, or even UMass. Heck even playing a PLL team once in a while isn't a bad thing.

Rumor is it may be Coastal Carolina at Monmouth.

That's kind of a bummer, as again, we're less interesting than the 9-3 teams. With that said, since we always get that awful bye on the first week of the season, perhaps the rest in the middle will be a help.

Nice to see an FBS on the schedule in 2009!

Go cats!

Why would you not play 12??? Inability to find a D1 team to travel to durham??? I guess the real question is - will an 8-3 be looked over for a 9-3??
