UNI @ South Dakota St - UNI (2-0) coming off a big win vs Iowa St could be surprised in South Dakota St's (0-2) home opener. SDST is winless, but both loses were close and on the road. Look for the upset here.

A couple of other interesting FCS games:

GSU @ Coastal Carolina - GSU (1-0) goes on the road vs a what appears to be a mediocre CCU (1-1) team. If GSU is to have a successful season, they need to win this one, can they do it, maybe, will they do, I don't think so.

Towson @ UMass - UMass (2-0) has not looked all that impressive in wins over Holy Cross and Colgate, but Towson (2-0) has been even less impressive in their wins over Central Conn St and Morgan St. I expect UMass to win this one fairly easily.

Let's just say General Custer will retain the honor of falling victim to "The Greatest Upset in the Dakotas."

Well, I would say Custer Battlefield is about 200 miles or so west of the South Dakota border. Look up a little town called Hardin and you'll find the battlefield!

By the way, go Dakota's!!!!

And of course, go MSU Bobcats!!

If it helps, Custer and the 7th Cav were assigned to and under the command of the Army's "Department of Dakota." Now back to football.

Custer was fine until he left the Dakota's. But I do think SDSU will pull a Mild upset this weekend.

You guys smoke some weird **** over here if you think that NDSU will lose a game this year. They are the best team in the country again this year.

I'm sorry but I need to clear this up. Custer's home and Fort was in what is modern day Mandan,North Dakota. Little Big Horn was in Montana, where Custer was defeated. xreadx

Geez you fellow North Dakotan's (I was born and raised there, so I still consider myself), didn't your elementary schools go on field trips back in the day?xnonox

That said, SDSU could very well take this game away. I don't think that UNI will have the Iowa St. hangover though. They'll come ready to play too.

Third Infantry (Yes, that one) and the Seventh Cav both had detachments at Fort Ellis. Here's a decent source for all you young officers: http://www.nps.gov/history/history/online_books/soldier/sitec8.htm

And while others have cleared up the location issue, Custer was a Lieutenant Colonel at the time of the "Greatest Upset in the Dakotas..." xrulesx

He was a general during the victory over the rebels from the south...after the war, was made a captain in the regular army...and rose to LTC at the time of his demise...

On football...I don't think there will be an upset...but I would not mind seeing it...xwhistlex

I think something odd will have to go down for UNI to lose. Although I thought that last year. xoopsx

The bunny rabbits got the score run up on them early in the year last year, and that obviously served to motivate the kids. The prairie kids are not going to give up. Were I to head for one of the casinos, I'd bet on Custer's and Evel Knievel's great nephew's kids school to have one of his cousins kick the winning field goal (as time expired).

His uniform and scalp are still being held by the victors of that battle. The uniform used to be a center piece in a bar in Hardin, Montana. Wonder who has it and where it is today?
