Good for Land! Makes you curious the numbers Andersen or O’Connell would of had in the SWAC?

Andersen with 4 more 1st place votes but only showed up on 24 ballots compared to 32 ballots for Land.

Agree, and #15 should have been a lock, but time and time again we see these awards go to a player soaking up stats on a weak team or playing a craptastic schedule

I try not to comment on these sorts of things too much but that is just a lack of taking the award seriously by those voters. That is complete bull****.

I would have given the award to either O'Connell or Anderson, with Lamb 3rd or 4th (seriously, Justin Ford could have an argument for top 3).

I certainly don't think he was the best defensive player in FCS. I don't even think he was the best in the SWAC. He had what two more sacks than James Houston, and that's with Houston being thrown out of a game and seeing limited use in another. He easily has more sacks than Land if he plays more in the ULM game, and the team doesn't take a couple games to figure things out at the start of the season.

Probably similar to what they already had, but Land's numbers were a little inflated from a couple games where he got big numbers
