Twenty years ago, the Patriot League was a competitive FCS conference. In 2021, not close.

Thanks for that...talk about trending down.
It may be interesting to also see the Ivy League and NEC alongside, to see their rise (or return, in the case of the Ivy). I'm not suggesting you actually complete that homework assignment though :D

While the league is down for a variety of reasons, Holy Cross football is in a far bettah place than it was in 2001. Chesney, improvement in facilities and the return of scholarships all made that happen to varying degrees.

Believe me, if it can be done at Holy Cross (known notoriously for hampering its athletics) it can be done at other PL schools.

Thank you DFW for putting this together. It’s interesting that the top 4 in the Ivy League since 2001 are the same top 4 all time. Some things never change.

I would say Dartmouth is now nearly always a Top 4 Ivy whereas UPenn has slipped out of the Top 4 in the last decade.

DFW - Great job!!! And taking a quick look at the last section for each league….The Ivy’s top SIX teams have winning records, while the NEC has 3 (and a .500) and the once competitive PL have only two. Yikes….
