Albany fans and former players are not so happy right now. This stings even more considering our very popular Head Basketball coach was fired after a very long, successful tenure for a few .500 seasons.

The AD at Albany is beyond over is head, and the fear many had with his hiring has come full circle. Was supposed to be a masterful fundraiser, hasn't made a dent. Was not supposed to be an administrator, he's showing that was beyond accurate. Albany has had two winning seasons under Gattuso and have been a laughing stock of the league but for the 9-5 2019 season against a weaker CAA schedule and a cupcake OOC. Got hammered by Montana St in the 2nd Round.

Dark day for many close to UA...

*Edit...that's supposed to read 2022 Crapsville Bar, not 2002. Too many drinks already...clearly.

Surprising move. Noticed you guys are losing some top talent to the portal as well led by Jared Verse.

This has lit a fury amongst fans, players, and former players like I've never seen. Benson.has a history of letting contracts play out and not renewing, which is what we all thought would occur.

Verse was going to leave no matter what; he's one of the hottest recruits in the country as evidenced by his offer list. The real surprises are Undercuffler, Damico, and Casale, eapecially Casale who is Albany royalty (his brother a star for us in the past and he's a local kid.). That's two starters and a key backup. Walker and Burton leaving are bad choices. Solid guys but not going to get a better landing spot. Undersized.

I still haven't fully recovered from NDSU's 2002 season.

That might have been about the last time we were really good...like REALLY good. Early 2003 technically...last time we were ranked #1. 10 weeks in a row in the top 5 from late-2002 to mid-2003. I'm gonna remember to good times for a while.

Well it’s not like the CAA is getting any better so you have that

Compounding the issue is the transfer portal & FBS teams poaching CAA players for depth mostly. Only Nova’s Paul Grattan started at UCLA (2nd team All-Pac 12) transitioned it successfully among the 3 Nova players that moved up. It will be interesting to see if any CAA “stars” will play more than special teams & back up roles at their FBS destinations.
