One of the fastest players in all of college football ... a dual threat as a premier punt returner and the truest deep threat in ASU’s arsenal of talented receivers ... likely becomes Appalachian’s go-to wideout with the departure of 1,000-yard receiver William Mayfield ... won the 2007 Southern Conference championship and advanced to NCAA Regional competition in the 200-meter dash.

2006: Played in all 15 games, making nine starts at wide receiver ... voted all-Southern Conference as a return specialist and wide receiver ... led the SoCon and ranked 14th nationally with a 12.3-yard punt return average ... was second on the team in receptions (33) , touchdown receptions (3) and receiving yards (470) ... ranked third on the squad at 14.2 yards per catch ... his marquee performance of the season came at Garnder-Webb, when he returned consecutive punts 86 and 68 yards, respectively, for touchdowns ... the two punt returns for scores are not only an ASU record for a single game, but also tie the school marks for punt returns for touchdowns in a season and career ... led the nation in punt return average for a large part of the season before opposing teams started avoiding giving him kicks he could return and his average dropped ... also had a strong campaign at wideout ... got off on the right foot when he hauled in a 37-yard pass in tight coverage down the sideline to set up ASU’s only touchdown in a 23-10 season-opening setback at NC State ... caught four passes for 65 yards in 41-0 blanking of Mars Hill ... went over 100 all-purpose yards in three-straight games versus Gardner-Webb, Elon and Chattanooga ... caught a career-high seven passes for 66 yards versus Elon ... racked up 106 yards and two touchdowns on just two offensive touches at UTC (27-yd. rush, 79-yd. rec.) ... scored third touchdown in two weeks with a TD catch in 14-7 win over Wofford ... closed the regular season by catching six passes for 57 yards versus The Citadel and two receptions for 25 yards and a score at Western Carolina ... after registering at least one reception in all but one regular-season game, was shut out in the ASU’s first two playoff games ... rebounded to combine for five catches for 85 yards in the national semifinal and championship games.

2005: Appeared in 14 games, making seven starts ... tallied 449 receiving yards, 245 on punt returns and 189 on kickoff returns to finish fourth on the squad with 883 all-purpose yards ... ranked third on the team with 30 receptions for 449 yards ... five touchdown catches ranked second on the squad ... ranked second in the conference and 40th nationally with 8.4-yard punt-return average ... had three-straight games of 100-plus all-purpose yards (128 vs. Coastal Carolina, 118 at The Citadel, 147 at Furman) ... capped season highs of five catches for 84 yards with 31-yard touchdown reception at The Citadel ... hauled in 48-yard touchdown catch versus Chattanooga ... was terrific in postseason, totaling 11 receptions for 178 yards and three touchdowns in four playoff games ... scored a touchdown in each of the first three playoff outings ... matched a season high with five receptions, including a 45-yard touchdown from Trey Elder, in semifinal win over Furman ... registered three catches for 25 yards in national championship game against Northern Iowa.

2004: Appeared in all 11 games as a true freshman … caught 17 passes for 239 yards, good for seventh and sixth on the squad, respectively … returned a team-high 22 kickoffs for 394 yards on the season … recorded at least one reception in 9-of-11 contests … returned three kicks for 60 yards, including a 24-yard return, in collegiate debut at Wyoming … registered a season-high four receptions for 30 yards in victory over The Citadel … hauled in three passes for 22 yards one week later at nationally ranked Northwestern State … posted season-high 48 receiving yards on a pair of catches in victory over No. 5 Wofford … scored first collegiate touchdown on 43-yard connection with Richie Williams at Chattanooga … also returned seven kickoffs for 126 yards during wild contest at UTC … caught three passes for 43 yards in romp over Elon.

Still coming into his full game as Rice has been nagged by minor injuries that have made it difficult to run and cut. Looking for his first full and healthy season in 2007 on the biggest stage UC Davis football has ever played on.

Personal: His mom is Susan Chambers of Mill Creek. Craig's major is communications. Birth date: June 29, 1985.

Quoting head coach Bobby Hauck: "Craig is a big-play guy who has a tendency to get the ball in the endzone when he gets it in his hands. He's the receiver on our team who has the best ability to go up on the outside and take the ball away from a cornerback in traffic. He has a real knack for that. He's a guy who defenses have to account for on every play when he's in the game."
