Me, I am bringing the wife, son and mother 500 miles from Seattle to see the Griz open the season against Southern Utah.

How about everyone else?

By the way, since I am traveling with the wife, son and mom, my mileage total should actually be multiplied by a factor of 1.5 due to annoyance factor.

Well, I'm not in school this semester (I'm on a co-op) so I will drive up from Cedar Rapids to Cedar Falls (an hour drive, about 60 miles) to see UNI play Minnesota State on Thursday.

Not a bad drive at all, especially compared to yours, haha.

I wanted to go to either the PSU/McNeese ST. Season opener or the PSU/UC Davis home opener, but work constraints forced me to wait till Oct 6th for PSU/NAU instead (still a good game). Had a choice of a road trip or flying.

Driving would have been a round trip of 804 miles to Lake Charles or 4074 milesto Portland.

Flying is a round trip of 5040 miles, six nights in Portland and the use of a brand new rental car all for less that $800 for the wife and I. It will be her introduction to American Football.

I'm wondering if the broadcast is downloadable. My brother in Denver would like to watch it, but can't watch it live.

We were at PGE park in 2004. I'm hoping they somehow sign another home and home with the Viks. I love it up there. The most lush, beautiful place in continental U.S., as far as I'm concerned...Maybe northern Cali or San Diego compare, but it would be very close.

Other than the SLC webcast and possibly Big Sky TV, which you can buy at the Big Sky or any of the Big Sky school's pages, I'll be listening (I hope) to streaming audio from KTRO out of Portland.

Hofstra doesn't open till the 8th, I'll make it to couple of their games, it would be about 280 miles each way.

So instead Friday night I'll have to walk 8 blocks uphill to the Carrier Dome and see SU Orange get "humilliated" in national tv by the Washington Huskies.
Hey, Its football and at least I don't have to pay for my tickets (perks of the job).

Saturday I'm hosting a Gator-Nation get together to watch "The Florida Gators" pound on Western Kentucky on my new media room.

The second best thing to being at the stadium.
The new house had a fully finished basement, so I set-up a 110" HD projection display with a very nice surround sound system media room (fully internet and cable capable and can be plug to a dish/Direct TV upgrade if needed) very similar to what I use for my lectures and we'll use it instead of a tv for the games!!!.
AAAAhhhhh how did I managed to live without that before!!!.

We should get a cheap pool table and new basement furniture from Sams club thursday night, (at my wife request!) and we'll be ready for this weekend.

Anyone who's flown into Missoula will know it will be like this :

About $400 for a ticket. Stops in Seattle or Boise (about 1-3 hours). Sitting on a tiny little Horizon plane the size of a minivan. In the end you are traveling about 2 less hours than you would driving, broke, and ready to punch the next crying baby you see. I'll take "flying" at 85 down beautiful I-90 (past Spokane that is) to dealing with that.

Gotta love America's skies. xthumbsupx
