Pretty good effort by the STATS voters. Them still hanging onto Kennesaw in the 25 is probably my biggest gripe and that's not a very egregious issue IMO.

Interesting to see that there's only 50 voters now... I wonder if that correlates with a higher quality output from them moving forward? IIRC they used to have well over 100 voters. I think that's a good move by Craig Haley because it sure seems like their polls have been more fluid this year and not as constrained by slot voting tendencies as it has been in the past.

I think you are right and heck I think I remember seeing over a 150 voters at some points in the not too far back machine. Their poll seems to have moved forward quite a bit as you stated. I would bet there might be a bit more vetting too to catch some of the outlier stuff.

Agreed on Kennesaw State. Otherwise not too bad. I think I would have some teams higher and others lower but not by too much.

Brian Bohannon has compromising photographs of someone who votes on the STATS poll (more than likely multiple people).

You think Kennesaw is overrated? We're in the friggin top 10.

VMI being ranked and Furman not is kind of a conundrum to me.

Y'all VMI got boat-raced by Kent State. Kent. State.

Now, when I say boat-raced, I don't mean it was competitive for a few drives and then a mistake here or there helped the golden flashes put it away. I mean, it was 22-0 in the first quarter and 39-0 at half. Kent State completed 14 of 19 passes. They ran for 494 yards. Keep in mind, VMI plays in one of the best conferences in the country for running the ball (between Wofford, Furman, ETSU, Chattanooga, The Citadel, heck even throw mercer in there).

Everyone knows I'm a socon homer: fine, don't agree with me that Wofford and Furman are top 25 worthy. I'm okay with that. But keep in mind that VMI was 3 plays and a handful of points away from having another losing season in the spring, when Wofford and Furman were not at full capacity. Davidson, the team VMI beat last week that looked decent, had to hold on against D2 Shaw.

The keydets caught lightning in a bottle in the Spring, but they aren't going to replicate it. They may win some games, but they aren't playoff worthy, and they're not top 25. I'll obviously eat my crow if I'm wrong. I'm the socon homer, so I'm usually the guy telling people the opposite, but jeez, VMI is not going to be good this year at all and this performance should be a wakeup call for anyone who wants to rank them.

I agree with this and especially your assessment of Kennesaw State

Jackson State not deserving of others receiving votes in my book quite yet
