View Full Version : Your in-person 2021 college football schedule

After a year hiatus for most people, fans will (hopefully) be able to attend some college football games this coming fall. As I've posted in the past, I'm curious which games people planned to attend this upcoming season across all college football divisions, obviously including Division I-AA/FCS.

Here's my personal, planned schedule (all times Eastern):

DEFINITE/LIKELY GAMES
09/18 (Sat): Boston College at Temple, 12:00 PM
10/09 (Sat): Kutztown at Bloomsburg, 2:00 PM OR Lehigh at Penn, 1:00 PM
10/30 (Sat): Lafayette at Georgetown, 12:30 PM
11/06 (Sat): East Stroudsburg at Shepherd, 12:00 PM

OTHER POSSIBLE GAMES
09/25 (Sat): Penn at Lafayette, 3:30 PM (unlikely due to commitments with my girlfriend's family, but possible)
10/09 (Sat): Bucknell at Lafayette, 12:30 PM (this is the third option that day behind KU/BU and LU/Penn)
11/27 (Sat): Navy at Temple, time TBA (fairly good chance I'll attend, especially if it is a 12 PM ET kickoff, but too soon to tell at this point)

In addition to games listed above, select DI-AA/FCS and/or D2 playoff games involving teams I follow that take place near the DC area (on 11/20, 12/4, 12/11, or 12/18) or near the Lehigh Valley (on 11/27) are also possibilities.

Finally, I plan to attend three Philadelphia Eagles games NFL games this fall (11/7 vs L.A. Chargers, 11/21 vs New Orleans, and 1/2 at Washington). There's a chance a fourth game could be added, 10/24 at Las Vegas, but ticket prices for that game are currently much higher than I want to pay.

For those of you who remember these threads from previous years, you may have noticed my list of college games is much shorter this season. There are a few reasons for that - girlfriend not happy with me attending so many sports events pre-pandemic, less interest in college football due to the pandemic, and my brother no longer attending Mississippi State. Still, I do want to get to a few games, especially when there are no conflicts with me and my girlfriend's mutual schedule and/or games are being played relatively near where I live or during planned family visits.

So which college football games do you plan to attend during the 2021 season?

I’m looking at the Lamar/Sam Houston game in Huntsville, and possibly either the Texas/Kansas or Texas/Kansas State game in Austin.

Though that depends on the COVID Dome policies that may be implemented at the time and if tailgating will be allowed.

I have a feeling we're headed towards significant restrictions (ala the LLWS) but I'll play along for fun. Generally speaking, I believe Lehigh and Temple are both going to be awful 3-8/3-9 respectively....

9/4 Villanova at Lehigh
9/11 Temple at Akron (I have ties to NE Ohio)
9/25 Lehigh at Colgate
10/9 Notre Dame at Virginia Tech??
10/15 Clemson at Syracuse??

Covid issues hopefully averted:

Definites: Harvard (Homecoming) 10/2, Colgate (at Polar Park) 10/23

Definite maybes: at UConn 9/4, GTown 10/16 and Lafayette 11/6

No close (driving distance) away games outside of Yale and UConn this season. Both are noon kickoffs which makes them sort of iffy.

No chance this season goes off as normal without covid restrictions. When this season starts it's probably going to be worse than it was last year. At least, for those that opted not to get vaccinated. Nearly every hospital near here has been on diversion for close to a week with no end in sight. Schools closing as quick as they opened.

We have 9 tickets, all of the people in our group have been vaccinated and all have said that they will not go to the games if masks are involved, this is not politics, this is about wearing a ****ing diaper on your face for 4 hours for no reason whatsoever.

They also blasted all over the ads to renew season tickets back in May that there would be no masks required. I doubt they'll get any sellouts even without a mask requirement (except for maybe the UNI game - homecoming) but they definitely won't get any with a mask requirement.

That said by the end of the spring more than half the people I'd say who went would take their masks off by the time they got to their seat and I'd expect that percentage to be even higher in the fall.

They just had a yuge maskless concert in that building and now they are looking to pivot and require them. They can do that at their own peril and they better ****ing provide refunds on the tickets.

I did skip this spring because of the Covid deal. You maskers must like wearing masks, to me, it is one of the most uncomfortable deals I can imagine but to each his own I guess.

I'm in the same boat. If Indiana State requires masks (particularly while in my seat) then I won't even go to the two games I'm planning on going to. I'll just watch on TV, but I'm pretty much done playing the mask game. I didn't really mind wearing one here and there for a few minutes, but the 2-4 hour thing at non-essential sporting events is just ridiculous.

Consider me officially maskless unless there is some urgent deal like having to go visit somebody in a hospital or something.

Yea. These people that wear these for things all day to work freaking amaze me. I have had to wear them to some company meetings and the few flights I have taken. I am just not going to wear one unless I absolutely have to and I don’t have to absolutely attend a football game.

So, I moved to Arlington, Virginia this year. I won't be making nearly as many games as I'd like.

Right now, I plan on making the Kennesaw State Wofford game on September 18th, the Samford-Wofford game on October 16th (for homecoming), and if the Terriers have a home playoff game on Thanksgiving weekend, I may make that one too.

But that's pretty much it. Me and Dungeonjoe were thinking about going to the VMI game in Lexington, but instead we're probably opting for an October visit up here so we can watch a Washington [Redacted] Football Team game.

Growing up is weird, but I'm thankful for the internet and ESPN+. Without which, being able to watch FCS football, and especially Wofford football, would be difficult to impossible -even 15 years ago.

I haven't worn a mask once since I was fully vaccinated this past March, with the exception of the flight to and from Minneapolis for our playoff game in Brookings. I didn't even wear one in the airports, only on the plane and nobody bothered me. I work in the beverage business where I'm constantly in and out of establishments (bars, grocery stores, club stores, bodegas, restaurants, hotels, stadia, etc.) and not once has anyone said anything to me or tried to browbeat me for not wearing one. And this is New York.

If needed, I'll wear a mask to attend a college football game. While outdoor mask mandates are ridiculous IMO, I'll take being able to go to a game live as opposed to games with no fans.
