What sort of “anonymous” players might we find in 2007 that could have a surprising impact on the FCS landscape this year? The sort of players that haven't shown up on all the all-America teams, but could be those type of players that break out and are on those all-league and all-American teams by year's end?

I guess the Southland Conference doesn't exist.

Thanks for pointing this out, actually. I forgot to include two Texas State guys in my final tally. They should be coming into the article later.

Nice article but since when has Omar Cuff been considered anonymous?

Not on the all-America team.

TYMagic Robinson should be on that list. He's a RB for SHSU. He was red shirt freshman and injured last year. Several folks think he might be our next DD Terry.

TYMagic Robinson. You heard that name here first.

Why didn't they just call the list 4th team All Americansxeyebrowx?

Both Papich and Daly deserved recognition last year. Daly led the conference in tackles, for crying out loud.

I thought Tommie should have made All American, but still, the list as a whole looks solid.

Marketing 101 man! Where's the excitment in a 4th team? :)

BTW LFN, the PL will be talking about Charlie Babb this season at QB. Sedale? eh... xsmiley_wix

No Ronald Talley, DE - Delaware?

No pre-season mention al all, but many FCS QB's will be seeing this face in their nightmares...

Jay Lucas of Southeastern Louisiana deserves strong consideration for that list. In my opinion, he's the best RB in the Southland Conference and should flourish in our new offense. He'll have a big year if he stays healthy.

How does someone run for 1500+ yards for three years in a row and still remain Anonymous?

Maybe because no one was looking....

Scott Phaydavong deserves a lot of recognition.

Good job by the writer, Chuck Burton -- I enjoyed his feature, but I'm not so sure Omar Cuff is that anonymous to FCS followers....xcoffeex

Also must mention that there are a lot more Anonymous Players in the PFL...

Example.... What lineman came in as a starter in the same game as Scotty P became a starter and has led his blocking in every game since? Think that there are no other players on Dayton? or Morehead St? or Jacksonville? ETC...

I agree. I wonder why not only the Southland, but also the SoCon go mysteriously silent. Hmmmmm!

Whenever we release our preseason All-America team, it always makes me think a little bit. A lot of those names don't exactly surprise: QB Ricky Santos, last year's Walter Payton Award winner. RB Kevin Richardson, leading rusher on last year's national championship team, was another “shocker”

But what good players don't have the spotlight squarely on them before a single down is played in the 2007 season? What sort of “anonymous” players might we find in 2007 that could have a surprising impact on the FCS landscape this year?
