Ok- the title is a little misleading. This game took place 81 years ago in 1940 but there is a ton of game footage from it. Don't know if there are any Cornell fans on the board, but this game would have made Andy Bernard proud! Cornell won 21-7. Lots of college fight songs from the powers back in the day too.

Couple of things to note that seem unfathomable nowadays:
1) The game was played at Schoellkopf Crescent on the Cornell campus to a record crowd of 34k.
2) Cornell was ranked #1 in the country going into the game.

If you're going to talk about Cornell Football 1940, you have to mention the Fifth Down Game. :)

What a great story as well. Conceding the game (w/ the expectation that the concession would be turned down by Dartmouth)- only to find out that Dartmouth accepted their concession.

One of the best professors I ever had received his BA from Nard Dawg U. Just sent this to him.

Reminds me of the old Prudential College Football Scoreboard.

Great story!!!!!!!!!!

It is a great story, truly great, and stands in stark contrast with what transpired in the infamous 1990 game when Colorado took the low road. I remember that game well and was dumbfounded by their response.

The old days of college football is priceless.. The way it's going it no longer has the luster and meaning it used to have paying players, millions of dollars spent etc..

I digress...

Wonder if tOSU can get a rematch to settle things up from 1940?? xdrunkyx
