Big day for Jackson State football. Should be a boost for recruiting and if his coaching is half as good as his worst day on the field, the Tigers will be fighting for a spot in the Celebration Bowl very quickly.

Assume you mean 10:00 Central Daylight Time for the introduction.

Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductee Sanders Named 21st Jackson State Head Football Coach

JACKSON, Miss. – A legendary football program and a Pro Football Hall of Famer have joined forces.

Jackson State University is excited to announce Deion Sanders will become the 21st head football coach in school history.

"I am truly blessed to be the 21st Head football coach of Jackson State University," said Sanders. "This amazing HBCU has always enjoyed a high level of commitment academically and athletically. It's my desire to continue this storied tradition and history of JSU and prayerfully bring more national recognition to the athletes, the university, the Sonic Boom of the South, and HBCUs in general. I am TRULY proud to be a part of the JSU Tiger family. 'I BELIEVE'"

JSU Vice President and Director of Athletics Ashley Robinson is excited to introduce Sanders to the Tiger family.

"I am thrilled to welcome Deion Sanders to Jackson State University, the City of Jackson, and Mississippi," said Robinson. "Coach Sanders is student-athlete centered and cares about young men and their wellbeing beyond the football field. We expect to compete for and win championships at Jackson State, and Coach Sanders will help us achieve those goals."

Right, “freaking.”

How many fans did the d-1 fcs leader avg fall 2019? They will be at true fbs #s soon and I’m fairly certain the required “shift” in recruiting is already occurring for many :D . That in itself is definitely something to lol @ while others in fcs front their monumental avgs of 2200-2500 lol. xlolx

That's one way to make an entrance. I know HBCUs like to do it big, but PrimeTime made a statement there.

The thing with that, is that I would not put past him to do something like that. Though, if we would have rode in on Bengal Tiger, that would have been the ultimate show.

Anybody have any thoughts on the Sanders move offering his kid a scholly, not a big surprise I guess, saw Deion's kid play a game on ESPN, I will reserve judgement on his "skills" until he gets into his college career.

If I'm not mistaken his son would be able to attend JSU for free even if Deion didn't offer him a scholarship because generally employees children and spouse go to the universities for free. I'm sure JSU could funnel in some money for housing/meal plan if need be if that frees up money for another high caliber recruit to come to town.
