... ouch! xsmhx Glad the FCS schools there (except for Marist I believe) have cancelled their seasons. But the FBS schools there (Army, Buffalo and Syracuse) are all losers in this case.

yeah, they get fans because there are a lot of army vets, but they don't really need ticket sales to fund sports....everybody is on scholarship regardless.

I still dont think there's even going to be a season. Unless every school is forcing kids to sign waivers, the liability risk that they are going to take is going to be enormous. It's all good until that one kid dies from complications.

Isn’t attendance mandatory for students at Army games?

Players have died in the past from complications and I do not remember any lawsuits from them.
How do you get out of bed in the morning??

Those are usually because of some hidden or unknown congenital defect. That's a little different than a muckraked pandemic

New York State has maintained single-digit deaths daily for just about this entire months, over a baseline population of 16 million (granted probably shrinking by the day).

You have a better chance of dying from simultaneously choking on a hot dog while getting struck by lightning at a football game than from picking up COVID-19 at a football game, at least based on the data being reported NOW.

Should have been up to the individual institutions to decide how to handle social distancing and stadium capacity policies this season. Or how about mandating MASKS in the stadium? If they work in Price Chopper and WalMart, they'll work at Schoellkopf Field.

Of course, the state and the universities should continue monitoring the data and should have allowed themselves the flexibility to shut it down if a second wave were to materialize.

Depends how you eat them. Don't do this at a game, especially during a thunder storm.

Scholarships are obviously funded by the federal government as are the athletic facilities to an extent. The majority of athletic funding comes mostly from the CBS contract for broadcast rights to football. Biggest piece of that pie would be the rights to Army-Navy, which is a standalone slot. Ticket revenue, both from home games and Army-Navy as well as P5 guarantee payouts also are not insignificant revenue puzzle pieces when it comes to the academies.
