Whitten creating a family atmosphere

Traditionally, the first week of football practice is supposed to be the toughest on the freshmen. Aside from just the grueling nature of an intense workout they are not used to, typically freshmen have to go through the initiation process of joining the team.

In the past, players have had their heads shaved, or had buckets of ice water dumped on them as they walk up the ramp following the first day of practice.

But Todd Whitten is looking to change that in his first year as head of the program. Instead of doing things to distance the freshmen from the rest of the team, Whitten has scheduled activities all week to help bring the Bearkats together, including a bowling tournament Tuesday and church on Sunday.
