Tennessee Tech: WR/KS Fleming named to STATS FCS Jerry Rice Award watch list

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Freshman wide receiver/return specialist Metrius Fleming has certainly made a name for himself on the football field this season.Now he’s standing up with some of the top freshman players in the country as STATS FCS announced its initial watch list for the 2019 Jerry Rice Award, honoring the top freshman in the Football Championship Subdivision.It’s the second year in a row that Tennessee Tech has had a player in the running as sophomore quarterback Bailey Fisher was a semifinalist for the award last season. Three of the first four recipients of the award – Towson running back Terrance West, Eastern Washington wide receiver Cooper Kupp and Fordham running back Chase Edmonds – have gone on to NFL careers.
