Trey Lance is putting up numbers that should garner him Payton votes all the while being a rFr. He is practically a lock for the Jerry Rice award but he should be finishing on All-Conference and potentially AA teams.

Agree. Looks like he is on pace for 25 TD passes with no interceptions. That would be incredible.

Lance has a big lead on the Rice award with Ford 2nd and then it is wide open. I don't think the Payton and Buchanan awards are clear at all. Those awards are wide open at this point.

2019 FCS AWARDS WATCH (Nov 4)

BUCK BUCHANAN CANDIDATES (25)
DE Ron’Dell Carter, James Madison, Sr.- 39 TKL, 16.5 TFL, 5 SACKS, 1 PBU, 7 QBH in 9 games.
DE John Daka, James Madison, Sr.- 39 TKL, 16 TFL, 9 SACKS, 1 PBU, 6 QBH, 1 FR, 2 FF in 9 games.

-Carter actually has 17.5 TFL in 9 games according to the official CAA stats, which leads the nation (Daka tied for 3rd).
https://static.caasports.com/custompages/stats/FB/2019/confldrs.htm#conf.wt2
-Just curious why Carter listed in the top 5, and not Daka, who’s got 4 more sacks..

Also I have to mention DT Mike Greene. The 6’3”/285 lb Jr has been flat out dominant. He’s got 10 TFL and 6.5 sacks (4th in the CAA. There might only be 1 other interior guy even in the top 10 in sacks, the rest are DE/LB). There’s some on the JMU board who think Greene is even more valuable than Daka or Carter. Only reason he might not get 1st team All CAA is they might not give 3 of 4 1st team spots to JMU. Jackson for Richmond will obviously be 1 of them.

Even the other JMU starting DT should get All CAA honors (maybe only 3rd team) as he’s been a notch below the other 3. The 2017 JMU DL with consensus AA Andrew Ankrah, another 1st team All CAA at DT, and a 3rd teamer at DE, had been touted as the best in JMU history (neither Carter, then a rSo, nor Daka, then a So, started). This one is even a little better (but not deep at all due to losing three 2 deepers in the spring/summer (2 quit team, 1 season ending injury).

I’m surprised Aaron Parker, URI WR, isn’t on the Payton list. I see there’s only 2 WR, Rowland from Tenn St, who leads the nation in receiving yds, and the JSU kid, who is 24th, despite having 10 games already, 1 more than almost everyone else. Parker is 2nd in the nation in receiving yds.

WR Josh Pearson, Jacksonville State, Sr.- 49 catches, 773 yards, 15.8ypc, 11 TD, 77.3 yds/gm, 1 carry, 7 yards in 10 games.

WR Aaron Parker, 66 catches, 1016 yards, 15.4 ypc, 8 TD, 112.9 yds/gm, in 9 games.

thanks for catching that

another note about Parker is Rhode Island has another good WR in Isaiah Coulter, who is 19th in FCS/5th in CAA in receiving yards with 800 so he is "stealing" some of Parker's stats, but Parker is special
