View Full Version : Toughest FCS Schedule

My vote would be for NAU. I wasn't that familar with them until they showed up on ASU's schedule, but wow I'm even more impressed that they agreed to a game in Boone after looking at their schedule. Only 4 to 5 teams in the nation could play this schedule and make the playoffs. Not only do they play 4 preseason playoff contenders and a BCS school, but 4 of the 5 games are on the road.

@ Arizona 6-6 (4-5) in the PAC 10 last year
@ ASU (top 5 FCS team)
@ PSU (top 20 FCS team)
Montana (top 5 FCS team)
@ MSU (top 20 FCS team)

How about SUU?

@ Montana
North Dakota
SIU
McNeese State
@ Montana State
@ YSU
UC Davis
@ NDSU
Cal Poly
@ SDSU
@ UNI

A case can be made that all FCS teams could be top 25 during the season. Just insanity.

yup - heck of a schedule. SUU has a tough one as well.

I do know that if by some miracle, NAU started out 3-0 (Western NM, Arizona and App St) that they dang well better be #1 :D

Wow sorry NAU but you're now second on my list SUU's schedule is even worse (better).

I'd say a minimum of 5 playoff teams (not preseason contenders, but actually playoff teams) are on their schedule and that's before you add in the transitional schools. Looks like a 1-10 or 0-11 schedule to me...

Yes, most at the Great West Predictions are saying 1-10 or 0-11 for SUU. North Dakota is in their last D-II year, and are likely to make those play-offs until they play Grand Valley St. in the Regional Final. Same team that beat UNI last year.xwhistlex

Agreed, and if they make it through undefeated, there will be a possibility of a non-schollie in the play-offs. But my bet is that at least UC-Davis takes them down, and UNC Bears and Marist should be tight games if not losses for San Diego.

A tough one overall for sure. We at App used to make fun of them playing Mars Hill every year, then we got a chancellor who went there and we ended up playing his alma mater.

ASU can't claim to have the toughest schedule this year by far with G-W and L-R on the slate, but Michigan in the Big House has to be the toughest single game for any FCS team.

I'm inclined to think that WCU has the tougher schedule because of that Bataan Death March set up at the beginning. That AD is either ambitious or crazy. SUU's is very tough but, IMO, there are no headbangers like Alabama.
