Nasir Player with yet another cheap shot against Grainger. Grabbed his facemask and tried to rip his head off.

FU leads 10-7 at Halftime, a costly turnover by FU leads to a short field TD for ETSU to keep them within striking distance before the break, game is to close for comfort

Not watching the game but following the play-by-play on ESPN.com. Why did ETSU not try a Hail Mary to end the half?

Bucs playing well.

I said coming into the game that the Bucs probably had the SoCon's best defense. Furman is probably up there too. They've played like it. Furman is 1-6 on third downs, and was at 50% this season.

You knew the freshman QB would eventually have an off day. Just not hitting his throws and the Bucs are bringing everyone up front.

If ETSU wasn’t down to their 3rd string QB, the offense would not struggle like they do. We have the backs, just need better QB play.

That was a gritty gutty win by Furman. Good teams are going to have games like that, where they have to grind out a win when things aren't working. Wasn't the prettiest game, but a win is a win and puts one in the barn against an ETSU team that I think will be there in the end.

Grainger didn't have an impressive day. The Paladin offense will have growing pains with a freshman QB. It's nice to know the defense can step up and make plays.

Hats off to ETSU's defense. They've got a strong unit that was able to slow down a Furman attack that most teams haven't been able to. I didn't think the 17 point spread was likely, but I thought Furman was going to have to score more than 17 to win.

Pretty ugly game for Furman's offense. Hard to think Furman is more than a slight favorite at Samford, if even that.

Samfords defense isn’t ETSUs defense.

Samfords also gotta figure out a way to score on Furman. The Paladin defense isn’t giving up much

Citadel put 55 on them at Samford. After an ugly day on offense against easily the best D in the conference, I’m sure Furman will have a few more points to play with. Not saying there are no concerns on offense but these games make Furman better.

Citadel put 55 on them with a QB that basically can't run. Samford loaded 9 in the box most of the second half.

Samford has been improving each week. It will a good game next week. They might be down as well after the emotional turmoil of our game. The thing I hate about them is their ability to score so quickly. We finally had the game under control until they got in gear. Their QB situation will be interesting with the starter going down. But the current #2 did fine...obviously. Better passer overall, I think.

What exactly happened to the Samford starter? (I know Rainey was gimpy as well) He was there and then I looked back and Welch was in ?

Gimpy ankle on a rush. Planted wrong or something like that.

Of course, part of Oladokun's game is his running ability. He tried to go back out, but couldn't push off on his throws.

Welch is a guy they know they can rely on.

They were both 9/18 passing, but Welsh had 3 TDs. We pretty much held both when they rushed to short gains.

I'm actually interested in watching Furman's defensive approach next week. Furman rotates 5 or 6 CBs every game, so I'll be excited to see how they deploy them against the pass happy Bulldogs
